737W The question is not can you afford it. Its can you not afford it!
How long have you been waiting for a Sim/Interview? And how many more months/years might it be before you get another one? After spending so much on your training it would be the height of foolishness not to hire a sim and get ready. Do whatever it takes, put it on your credit card whatever. BTW is it Irelands least favourite Airline? If so P.M me.
Both myself and and a good pal from my Basic training days went for an interview with the same compnay about the same time. He decided he could not afford to hire a Jet sim which we would be interviewed in. He then went to the interview and got slaughtered because he was a)not instrument proficient, although legally current b) Due to a, had no chance of being able to handle a Jet.
I hired a sim for 4 hrs or so,got some good intel on what was going to happen during the check by getting in touch with people who had already done it. After a few hrs in the sim I got my scan back together, and flew the Sim very well. I flew excellently on the day and was told as much by the examiner.
You don't need anything fancy, infact get the cheapest you can, it makes no odds. This is why I disagree strongly with WWW who said get the cheapest MCC you can. Those 20 hrs in a Jet sim are very usefull for getting you ready for an interview in same. To be honest thats how what I saw the function of the MCC as!

I agree 100% with tellstar. I had my simcheck last week and went over well prepered, the flight went great and I got the job. I also witnessed a couple of guys with a lot of experience messing it all up due the lack of preperation. flighttime.

SIM Check
Good advice on Sim check prep, be prepared as best you can, 737 PMDG is good for cheap prep for sim checks,(if going on a 737) otherwise get the credit card out and get your scan upto speed as its all raw data flying. Spending money on the MCC is wasted if you dont remain fairly profficient so feel comfortable not uncomfortable.

737wannabee, It is not a case of not affording it or lack of time. You have not come this far to be beaten by a few hundred quid or have you??? Just how much do you want to win this job? There is almost certainly a 737 sim somewhere in the country with a couple of hours spare between now and your check. Hunt it down, and use the time very wisely. Listen to what the instructor tells you and WIN the job you want. I have left the name of the guys who helped me with sim time earlier this year on a previous thread (737sim), so there is a starting point. Good Luck.
