What do BA want in a pilot?
Along with some fellow course-mates I will soon be attending the BA selection centre and undertaking all the associated stress that comes with it! I was wondering whether anyone could give me an idea of what it is BA asre looking for in a potential candidate i.e. Possible future managers, training captains. That kind of thing. I've seen the long threads on the other aspects of the selection process other than that so feel as ready as I'm ever going to be in that respect.
Any help would be much appreciated.

BA told me in my interview for DEP that they are primarily interested in 'soft skills' ie. good communication, good CRM, ability to deal with a wide cross section of people, able to make and accept difficult decisions etc. In the interview they ask questions to try and evaluate if you have these skills. There is a thread on this forum which gives great detail of the BA assessment experience. Good luck.

I went for the SSP scheme about a month ago too. From how they selected people they wanted to call back, all we could figure out was that it was just a case of being yourself really. Practice basic mental numeracy, for the computer tests and then have examples prepared of your team experiences for the interview.
Theres a good list of questions someones put on this website somewhere which is quite a good indication of a few questions.
good luck

BA's recruiting literature gives almost all the clues you need about the kind of people they are looking for. BA are no longer the automatic choice of airline for UK pilots, so they are having to work somewhat harder to persuade people to join them than they used to. Nevertheless, as with any propsective employer, you should familiarise yourself with their business, their future plans, their recent results, and the market context for these facts. You should also have a good think about how you, as a pilot, could help the company to bring about its business aims.
Lastly, there are some extremely good threads on this forum about BA recruiting and interviews. Go back a few years in your search; you'll find not much has changed.

It is something that you and only you can answer, no body else. An uncommon answer will be a good start.
Good luck to you and your fellow mates.

In my mail from BA it said :
"You will shortly receive an pack containing practice leaflets for the verbal reasoning test and numerical reasoning test. "
Is this the material you were talking about ?
-If so : How long until you receive this ? I've already scheduled for the interview last week, and still I haven't received anything... is this normal ?
-If not : What material do you mean ?
Many thank for replying !

I suspect Scroggs refers to the BA website where they list some of the skills desirable. In my case they sent out the 'practice leaflets' a couple of days after I confirmed the interview date, but I felt they were of limited use anyway.
Good Luck.
