2500 new jobs at Ryanair
Boeing wins $4bn deal from Ryanair

Top European discount airline Ryanair said it had ordered 70 737-800's and taken options to buy a futher 70.
Ryanair said that the firm orders alone were worth $4 billion and would enable it to create 2,500 extra jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers with an scheduled delivery between 2008 and 2012.
Ryanair is already scheduled to have taken delivery of about 100 new boeing aircraft by the end of this year from a previous firm order of 155.
The airline is exapanding aggressively in Europe amid a backdrop of tough competition and high fuel costs.It said it planned to double the number of pax it carried to 70 million each year dwarfing British Airways by the end of the decade.
Airbus have also stated that airbus sales in the middle east are expected to double in the next five years!
Someone needs to be at the controls!
There is hope for us all yet!

I wonder how many actuall pilot jobs there will be created, and at that I do infact wonder how many planes they will actully have bought and delivered, and not just put on hold after its got its airtime on TV

Crashlanding Would you call paying to work for FR through paying for your NG Type rating & then working for BurgerKing wages for a year as a Second officer a good deal? At the end of the day everybody works to pay for Living/Socializing expenses etc. It should never be the other way around which is the FR way which is well documented on pprune. The more FR bashing the better because it shows them up for the company that they are and hopefully with an upturn in Aviation less people will have to stoop to their level in order to get employment. And No before you ask I dontwork for FR,Never have and Never will so if Aviation turns Bad visit your local BK Drive Thru...you may see meworking there!!

Flying Mech, sorry I dont think my post said anything about paying for a TR, Im questioning weather they would actully get any of these aircraft they have ordered. I seem to rember both EJ and Ryanair doing this only a couple of years back and then put on hold most of the aircraft, that was of course after the press releases and the obvious share price increase that would happen.
And personly Im not keen on the idea of having to pay for a TR and then getting a stupidly low wage for several years. Many train drivers earn far more for less complex controls and dont have to pay for there training.

Can you give a link to a site that confirms that EasyJet and Ryanair have deferred any of their orders? If they have, that's news to me. As far as I am aware, both airlines are continuing to take all the aircraft on the firm orders they placed, and are now converting some of their options to confirmed orders. Have I missed something, or have you added a couple of half stories to a bit of rumour and conjecture and come up with 2+2=5?

Perhaps Im wrong but im sure that easy had put on hold most of the aircraft they had ordered from 2 years back, but as its been so long since ive looked in any aviation mags things could ahve changed somewhat.

Steady now, I remember a few tales also about a slower then expected delivery not so long ago but dont have enuf facts to spout about it.
I reckon it can be some what misleading for some especially outside of the industry when you hear these anouncements which explode with headlines like 70 new a/c but read on to see the delivery is planned for blah blah ,as I have friends who hear 70 new aircraft and for some bizarre reason expect to see 70 new a/c sitting on the ramp within a week with bows on.

which mentions an expected slow period "Ryanair's continued growth, which had been projected to slow from 20 percent in 2005 and 2006 to 8 percent by 2008" makes you wonder where these aircraft will go and if indeed there plans are not to ambitious, but no doubt there is method in there madness.

EZY ordered 120 Airbus with a 120 further options. They have steadily taken A319's to the point where that is now the biggest fleet compared to the 737-300 or the 737-700.
They did decide last year to slow down this years planned expansion from 25% to 16% and as a result some planned 2005 deliveries were rolled back. They have continued to accept A319s into service this year so far and as of April2006 they will be taking 4 aircraft a month every month for a long time.
