Ctc

Hello everyone!

I have a question regarding the CTC group. As an almost finished ab-initio student in the Netherlands I was wondering if it would be wise to apply at CTC to get placed by BMI, Brittannia or Easyjet. Some of my fellow students have had very good experiences with this company but I heard that there have been people who didn't get a job with one of the airliners and therefore lost their money.

Does anyone know more about this company or have any advice in my job search?

Thank you very much for your help.

There are load of hoops you have to jump through before you apply to the ATP scheme: the first thing you need is your licence issued!!!!

then you will need a basic disclosure certificate, 3 passport photos, a reference from your flying school or college, and satisfactory completion of a form with a lot of white spaces on it. Oh, and you'll need £4K or so burning a hole in your pocket for their AQC course (which is like an MCC course plus a bit).

From what I understand most of the selection process is completed before you spend any money. There are one big application form followed by two interview sessions. So a lot of hoops but none of it costs. Then you do their AQC which you pay for. CTC states that 90% pass the AQC but some people just don't live up to their standards. Of those who pass pretty much everybody gets a job unless they screw up the line training. Sounds pretty fair to me. But I have heard of them failing people on the AQC for no apparent reason...but that's of course objective. Would be interesting to hear from people both with good and bad experience.

Failures do occur during the AQC. When I did mine out of 8 guys, 2 were not put into the holding pool. Pretty harsh considering the money they spent and the massive disappointment! However the instructors at CTC are very fair, they were fair with me anyway. They do not fail people for no reason. I've heard that tune before, ie , "how come they failed me, i thought i did ok".etc... The thing is, during the AQC if you do ok (ie, average) throughout the course with little or no improvement, then you are more likely to be rejected than someone who started pretty low and improved significantly over the course. A good leraning curve is what they want to see. "Soft skills" are also essential for the AQC. Lack of, or poor CRM are indeed very good reasons for them to reject someone. 90% success rate must be about right though.

It is a very demanding course, but I know for sure that I have learned a lot. Fantastic placement opportunities too. So it's really worth the risk.

cheers

Hi Jmc

Are you currently in the holding pool? Do you have an idea of the companies you may be placed with?

Well thanks a lot everyone!
At the moment I still have to do the MCC part of my training. But since I finish my ATPL course withing two months I thought it would be better to start applying at all sorts of airliners and get the process started.
If I don't get any serious reply's I guess it would be a very good option to apply at CTC then.

But anyways that's a lot for your responses!
