Question Today's Air Atlantique assessment

So, to the other 6 guys at today's Air Atlantique final assessment day.... how did you do? Have you received that terrifying call yet?

I'm still waiting - the journey home was a nightmare, checking my mobile every half mile!

Add your result once you find out - even if its not quite the one you would have hoped for.

No call yet.

When I had my interview they told me that they wouldn't call us until tomorrow.

Good luck!

OMG, I'm almost a fugly

Hi Fraser/Andrew,

Got my call yesterday evening. First time, I lost the mobile signal as soon as Kay started speaking - I almost passed out!

Anyways... subject to a succesful flight assessment on Monday, I'm onto the fugly scheme! Chuffed to bits - lets just hope the weather is good for Monday.

Let me know how you all did.

Good luck if you havent yet received your call.

Andrew,

That is a shame. Hope the whole assessment experience was a good one - as crap as you're probably feeling now, having been through it once will help you for the next time you apply for a sponsorship.

Good luck for the future

Phill

P.S. Check your PM's, Andrew

Unhappy

Hi guys,

Well I'm afraid my news is no better. I'm totally gutted...........

Phil,

The best of luck to you on Monday, I hope the weather is CAVOK and the flight is your best.

I hope you have a great career with Air Atlantique.

The experience was a good one, but I can’t help feeling I’ve just lost the best opportunity of being a proper pilot. I guess I have a smart computer to look forward to now……

Thanks again to all at Air Atlantique.

Fraser

Again, gutted to hear that mate.

It was inevitable that at least 3 of us weren't going to get in - we all knew that - but its still pretty crap to hear the bad news.

Have you asked to be put back into the application pool, Fraser? If you've got this far once, you can easily do it again.

Phill

P.S. Check your PM's

Phill,

I received your PM, and thanks for the words of encouragement.

I had asked if some further info on why I was unsuccessful could be given. It would appear that I must have said something in the final interview, or came across in someway which was not desirable.

For the life of me, I simply cannot think what – other than the fact that I work and have a notice period, or that I think George Bush being re-elected was wrong, I really don’t know. Paul had even pointed out a paragraph in a letter I had written and said that it was exactly what they were looking for and I thought the interview went very well. Who knows, maybe my face just doesn’t fit..!

With regard to the re-application, I will have to give it some thought. Kay has said that she would be happy to receive an update for future consideration, but I need to give things some thought.

Have you heard from the rest of the guys?

Hi Fraser,

The only people I've heard from are you and Andrew, in the negative, and the other Phil, who got onto the scheme (again pending a checkflight). If the other three are out there, get in touch.

As for your interview, well they knew I had a notice period (albeit only a week) and I also said I wouldnt have voted GWB back in. Do try and chase up the feedback - obviously, it'll be v. useful if you do decide to reapply.

Funkie,

you wrote:

Maybe it is better not to have an opinion about these kind of matters during any job interview, not just in flying. Or come up with a more balanced answer than 'it's wrong' when they ask you a question about it during an interview. You could focus on a particular aspect of GB you don't like but also point out a policy he has you do like. This way you can answer the question about the US elections outcome without taking sides and possibly stepping on somebody's toes.

Good luck with future applications.

Gerard

Mine went ok - lasted about 45 minutes - just the basics - shallow turns, steep turns, a clean stall, a PFL (including a full Mayday call - eek!), and a couple of circuits. Cant say I found the taildragger the easiest thing to fly. Was cool when we were backtracking down the runway for take-off as there was a 737 ahead of us - never shared a runway with something that big before.... well, I doubt you could operate a 737 from Elstree!!! Apparently, they'll analyse the results tomorrow and make a decision soon after. Yet ANOTHER day to wait

When the other Phil went up, they closed the runway (loading dangerous goods onto one of the Electra's and due to regulations about distances from buildings, apparently the only place they can do it is in the middle of the runway!), so he was up for about an hour and a half!

Keeping fingers crossed for tomorrow now.

Dont know. Jason wasnt there to do a flight test yesterday, so I dont know what the arrangements are for that. I think the other Phil was probably fine, although havent had a chance to speak to him yet.
