Question Poll: Time from fATPL to employment

How long did it take you to get your 1st airline job?

(from completion of course to acceptance by airline)

Please answer people who completed their training in the last 2 or 3 yrs, Im trying to work out an estimate of how long I should expect to be instructing for before I can start making bigger payments back to the bank,

Very greatful for any replies

7 years from issue of FATPL to airline job, 5 years before I got any full - time salaried flying job (air ambulance). Only now just starting to make a proper hole in the debt repayments, now I've got my first airline command. Remember that many FO salaries aint that glamourous either these days, especially when you're supporting a family!!

I did all the usual two-career instructing-while-trying-to-hold-down-a-menial-job thing in the intervening years, but you may well find your debt increases during that period, just while trying to survive on subsistence instructor wage
