Lack or Excess?

I am curious to know, two to three years from now, will there be excess in pilots or lack?

In other words, would Airlines for example need more pilots, or would they lay off more?

Thanks.

Possibly the most impossible question in the world.

Will there be another 9/11 or SARS?

If you can answer that then you are 1% of the way there.

On a similar theme, if "analysts" predict a doubling of commercial air traffic in the UK in the next 15 years, should this growth not be happening now, or will Easy and Ryan Air just trade B737's in for A380's?

cheers

For low houred guys: excess most definitely. Always will be until the job doesn't sound glamorous anymore.

You might hear of people on these forums saying about pre 9/11 that it was the time of opportunity, where milk and honey were in abundance. Don't believe a word of it, it was hard back then for low houred pilots, and it will continue to be.

There does seem to be more opportunity for experienced guys from the right type of background.
