Question Pprune and Astraeus

Whilst I appreciate that there have been several postings on this matter, I felt that this topic receive priority and therefore be kept on the agenda.

I was one of the fortunate individuals who experienced the PPrune/Astraeus scheme just over 2 ½ years ago. I qualified through to the final round of 10 candidates, but regrettably stopped there. The Astraeus scheme provided me with a great deal of confidence, but nevertheless I was extremely disappointed for not getting through.

The whole experience was a very positive one, especially so soon after September 11th when most of us felt it would never happen. At that time however, it was mentioned that a number of other airlines would be following a similar path via PPrune, but to date this has not happened.

I would like to appeal to the likes of Hamrah and Capt PPrune to consider running the scheme again. The PPrune fund has benefited from this venture with Infinretirement announcing recently that this now stood over £21,000; a large proportion of which came from the Astraeus cadets. You only have to ask the likes of Adam, Amanda, Matthew and Paul as to what it has done for their careers and I’m sure they will speak highly of this opportunity.

I appreciate that you just cannot run a scheme without any vacancies, but, if something in the future is likely to be considered, this would inevitably give all the wannabes some hope – and believe me, in this current climate, this wannabe would really appreciate it.

Cheers

Salapilot,

I am happy to consider running another similar scheme for Summer 2005. I will liaise with the guys from the PPRuNe Fund to determine whether it can be done, and I will need some form of visibility as to our flying program for the Summer.

Hi Salapilot...It is good to hear that you’re still keeping a positive view and I wish you every success.

Astraeus have of course launched us all a tremendous career and I am sure I speak for all five of us when I say how grateful we were, and still are, to what the fund offered us. I too would also like to see a similar scheme be offered once more.

It would also be great if the ATPL distance ground school competition results in some potential training captains for Astraeus as well! Good luck to all those applying
