Second Officer (Cruise Pilot) jobs?
Hi Everyone,
I looking for information on Cathay's Second Officer Program. If anyone who has been through the program, or is currently a SO with Cathay please be kind to share your experience. I'm hoping to apply for the program, and I'm in need of information ( Total time? type of flying experience? how do they like US pilots? what about the training?).
How about living in HK? What are their benefits like? Thanks in advance.

If you have an FAA CPL ticket with a multi-IFR rating, and ATP(L) writtens completed and a Minimum of 1000 Total flight hours, you can apply, but with just that, you are not any where near competitive. The other PRIMARY requirment is age comensurate with experience, ie. the older you are, the more experience you require to be considered.
Good luck, it sure doesn't hurt to try. I was talking to CX recruitment before I even had a pilots license.
Cheers,

Main thing I can tell you, is that there isn't any SO recruitment at CX until further notice. They were just starting to get the recruitment ball rolling again after the Sep 11th setbacks and then SARS absolutely knocked the wheels off. They had to cancel about half their schedules at one stage last month, they're starting to resume services but there are still LOADS of parked widebody jets cluttering up the taxiways at CLK, and by all accounts there's still a pretty high risk of redundancies in the short term unless they can get load factors up from their pitiful present level.
Two of my mates were at second interview stage and got phoned and cancelled last month, no word from CX as to when they might get it back on track but no one is holding out for much before the end of the year.
You might get a better response if you post in the FH forum.

Cathay/Qantas second officer slots
Hi all!
I'm a newly qualified commercial pilot living in OZ, and was wondering if anyone out there could tell me where I can find telephone and address contacts for Cathay and Qantas that would allow me to start hassling them about their second officer slots. Where can I find contacts for other airlines?
Also, who should I talk to and what should I say to them when asking about their SO slots?
These questions must sound pretty basic, but I'm still unfamiliar as to how I should present myself and talk to people on the phone when asking about pilot positions with the airlines.
Any info with regards to this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

I'd have a look at the respective companies websites. Also, post this in D&G for a more local response.

Sim check BAC 111
Hello there,
Has anyone any ideas or even better information on the BACX SimCheck, whether you have to fly single pilot or rely on MCC/CRM with explicit orders to the PNF? Then you would at least get some help from the other side of the cockpit.
Thanks

dschoute,
Is very strange you be refused because of your low hours...I have a friend with 170 hours that was invited to do this interview..But I believe that in the end who have more experience will have more chances to be hired...I had low hours wen I did my interview in April and I receive a advice from a person inside Qatar Airways that a should acummulate more hours befora try again.

Do you know if anybody is already flying as second officer in qatar after the selections ?
Anybody has the selection scheduled for the 29th of november ?
Ciao
