I don`t think it`s been suspended as such but I think you`ve missed the current intake, (but don`t take my word for that as I have not been informed).

The sponsorship is a constant intake of cadets throughout the year though so your application will be held on file until the next intake. I don`t deal with the applications but your best bet is to just give us a call and find out, (The news changes every second in this place).

a french wannabe

Hi everyone

(sorry for my grammar, I am french)

I am new to this forum, and tried to read everything i could about air atlantique sponsorship. So I just hope I just won t ask quetions that were discussed before.

I was first wondering if you could try the selection process for the sponsorship more than once, or if failing means that there is no way you can get any kind of sponsorship from them.
Also, I am pretty sure that I heard that some air atlantique livery ATR 42 are based in france. Does that have anything to do with the group that is running the sponsorship?, and could the fact I can also speak french be an advantage for them?
I am a bit worried about the english test. Well, as I am in my second year of a degree in england, my english is hopefully improving, and I don t really have any trouble anymore with expressing myself. But if that english test involves some kind of shakespear vocab or anything like that then...
Finally, I have two more year to finsh my aeronautical engineering degree. Personnaly I don t care about that degree, but I don t know if I should really wait for the end of my degree before applying. Personnly I don t really want to, and would be ready to drop the course instentaneously if i had the chance to get a place.

Anyways, I am really sorry for such a long message. I also go to a french pilot wannabe forum, and I must say that we don t have the chance to have pilots helping us and answering our questions. Who ever they are. thanx a lot.

winch launch:

CAUTION: There is another airline based in France also called Air Atlantique which has a fleet of ATR 42/72 with more to come I believe. This has nothing to do with Air Atlantique based in the UK with the cadet sponsorship scheme !!!!!!!!!!

Air Atlantique in the UK (based Coventry) do have an ATR 42 though. (G-IONA)

Thanx a lot for your reply

It s getting a bit confusing all those air atlantique and atlantic!!
But anyways, I hope i didn t confuse you and that you thought my questions were about a sponsorship in france. What I am really interested in is the sponsorship that air atlantique in coventry offers. Well actually, what I am really interested in, is flying a DC-6!!!

Parlez vous Francais?

I wouldn't worry too much about your english. From what I've seen it's better than mine! And you're doing a degree in aeronautical engineering here in England! My, how the continentals put us to shame.

Thanx for the info man flex. If english is not to bad, then it s seriously a big relief for me.
And does any one knows how many times you can try out for the sponsorship selection?
Also for the ones that went trhough the flight test stage, did you train for that, and what kind of things do they ask you to do?
apparently first stage implies, maths, physics, and PPL theoretical knowledge questions if I am right. I am quite surprised that there are no psychomotor tests. Can anyone confirm that to me?

by the way, I am not so much of a continental. I ate baked beans yesterday, so I am not so french after all!

Good luck to everyone.

I'll just say something about the tests that I had to do at the first phase:-

The questions in the written papers were nothing to do with PPL knowledge or physics. They consisted of questions that tested your ability to think quickly within a short time frame. We were told that it wasn't expected of us to finish every one. In my view you couldn't have revised for these tests. The maths that was involved was only very basic fractions and multiplication. There were lots of questions testing your knowledge and understanding of vocabulary. Also there was a kind of personality profile paper with no correct or incorrect answers.

I hope this helps a bit.

thanx for that wireless.
So i guess it s common psychotechnic tests that you find in many other compagnies. I called them last week, and they told me that everything was on hold until february, but i don t know if i should send my application to them yet. Also, i forgot to ask him how many times we can try the selection. Does anyone know?
Also wireless, in the verbal comprehension stuff, was the english very sofisticated, or is it not to bad?

good luck for the rest

There was no verbal comprehension test. Instead there were just some questions testing your understanding of particular words. For example "tenacity". There would be 4 choices. Each one a description and you have to decide which best fits the word tenacity.

I can't help you with your other questions as I really don't know the answers. I would send your form in anyway. Things can change and you'll be at the top end of the pile when they do.

Thanks for wishing me luck.

This thread seems to have moved away from it's origin of asking for advice on the sponsorship scheme offered by the Air Atlantique Group.

I have felt moved to post a reply due to the outrageusly arrogant comments made by Mad Jock at the beginning of this issue, where Air Atlantique were reffered to as being 'bottom of the pile' and the only advice offered to Career Girl was to stay well clear!

Meeb mentions the '21 year old who got a command on a multi crew pax aircraft' through the scheme. Well that's me (although not a passenger aircraft, an Electra all the same!).

Mad Jock, if you really do believe that an airline who would willingly take on a spotty 17 year old fresh out of his A'Levels, and put him through ATPL ground school, give him fully comprehensive IR training, AND an AFI rating, are at the bottom of the 'airline pile', then there can be no pleasing you.

I am very proud to have worked for Atlantic Airlines since 1997, and know of few other people who have several hundred hours on Dakota's, many hundreds of hours on low level pollution patrol C404's, and got a command on a 52 tonne turbo-prop at aged 21. All for free, and all thanks to Atlantic!

I'm not unique by any means, there are many other products of the sponsorship scheme who have been equally fortunate to have had the same or similar experiences, thanks to the training and expertise of many of the training staff in the group. I'm now 24, have over 3500 hours and haven't paid a penny for it. What a poxy employer I must work for huh!

Career Girl, don't listen to people like this, take ANY form of sponsorship going. But if you're lucky enough to get a 100% deal from Atlantic, then consider yourself especially fortunate. Good luck to you.

Karl

Hi all
I have to admit to never having heard of air atlantique or their sponsorship.
Could you tell me how you applied, direct to air atlantique or through AFT? Did you apply in writting or via their web site?
Does anyone have any idea as to when they may be looking to start training thier next group of cadets?
What are their entry requirements?

Thanks

NT

MJ,

Sincere apologies, it was indeed a mix up. T'was intended to be aimd at Meeb!

Space hopper, yes I am leaving, but not till Feb. V sad to go but just time to move on after 7 years. The hours have certainly slowed down a little since my time in recon (or maybe the number of pilots it's shared amongst has just got bigger!). No idea who you are btw! SMS me and let me know how life is down in Manston, and Good Luck!

Space Odyssey, I may know you. I met the guys at Manston last Xmas (2002) in a bar in Broadstairs, they were on lemonades!(and on call)
Can't remember the names but they were tall guys who had been there a while and were due back in Coventry. Are you one and the same and if not where are they now, on the Electra I hope!

All the best on the islander, looked fun to fly
