Someone please help me out with this oh so difficult language......

Ladies & Gents, this is a prayer for some assistance. Doing the public address speech for the pax, I tend to deviate a bit from the company manual, just to make sure that our esteemed pax actually listen to what we would like them to do and not to do. :)

The deviations are going flawlessly in Dutch and in English, but I must admit to having some problems with the french bits. If I post the bits that I would like translated in italics, is there a kind soul somewhere out there who'd care to translate so I can stop making a total fool of myself in front of the SLF??

re. the flight safety demonstration: bla .bla......bla.....now I know that this is very very boring and I can't make it anymore ineresting either, but it might save your life if an emergency comes up, and your newspaper certainly will not.....

re. moblie telephones:
a moble phone on stand-by, even if you are not talking into it, will search for contact with a ground station. This searching can interfere with the navigational equipment of our aircraft. This is a potentially dangerous situation. We dont want it, you don't want it, so please make sure that your phone is switched off completely

I know translating stuff is boring so I will quite understand if nobody does it, but will be all the more grateful if someone should take the time.

PS: An Italian translation would be wondeful as well by the way, my Italian version of the above is even more ludicrous than the french one!

ATC Watcher 6th January 2002 01:45

For the first part of your message may I suggest you this shorter version that will definitively attact the attention of the French business passengers :

" Eh ! Ho ! vous m' ecoutez oui ou merde ?

I have other suggestions, equally short and to the point for the second sentence, let me know if yoy want it, (after having evaluated the first one on a couple of flights, for instance ..)

salut a tous;
Je sais que c qui va suivre n'a rien avoir avec " a speech for the PAX" mais c'est un message d'un controleur qui vous rend super concentre.

CTRL "9Q-***, Mbandaka, ready for ATC"
9Q-***: "Go ahead"
CTRL: " 9Q-*** You are cleared Mbandaka to Kinshasa, after departure Rnw 06 do your best!
9Q-***: ?????.

Voila pour la petite histoire.
Grosse bise "une fois" a toutes les ladies et veuillez recevoir egalement une grosse leche de simba.

Flaps,

I don't mean in any way to impose over Flyblue, but if you want another translation, I
will happily send one to you!

Ciao!

ATC watcher, I stand in th aisle while addressing the SLF and they always listen. :) That's what deviation from standard prattle induces you see, and that's why I'm a happy deviant.

Azzurra all translations very very welcome, saying the same stuff all the time gets real boring, so any variations gratefully recieved.

Amex, Bonne Annee to you too! :)
And what's this about you currently being on some godforsaken Savannah without proper access to the net?
Can't have that you know, you're needed right here on the French forum!
