Hi YVR Kid!!!

Depends on what you are looking for and which part of France you d like to enjoy but as a start i will recommend Aeropyrenees in the lovely city of Perpignan...
I ve done my licence conversion from canadian ATPL to JAA ATPL out there and people are great!
Let me know if you need more details or like to try different places!

Happy landings

Hi,

If you have a JAA licence, you don't need a french licence. Maybe juste a validation from DGAC.

Regards,

Xavier

Hello YVRkid,

if you want to fly in France, I suggest you have a look at this link...

francoflyers: About Francoflyers

beautiful countryside, no airspace restrictions, lessons available in French and English, CAA approved instructor/examiner, and oyu can fly to Limoges from the UK with Ryanair or Flybe depending on where you live.

enjoy!

And please ignore Tahitimax who runs a plane rental company, he's just interested in your dough...

If you want accurate answers/opinion, ask precise questions

What kind of flying are you looking for? Private, professional...?

I'm British, and did PPLs in Argentina and UK, and CPL/IR/ME/FI in France.

The standard in French FTOs is very good (for PPL and CPL). There is more depth in theory teaching than in the UK, perhaps a hang-over from the old "pilote de ligne" training, which required a much higher level of maths and engineering knowledge than the current JAR requirements.

The big weakness of French FTOs is that they are very weak in job-placement after training, compared to UK FTOs. UK FTOs recognise that their reputations and long-term futures are linked to placing graduates into jobs, and they work hard to foster relations with airlines and other employers.
