Does any one know what ever happend re the Koda air 707 story involved with the bust at Southend Uk last year?

There was a lot on Freight Dogs regarding this and C j-B (pilot) as I recall was given 15 years for his troubles as was the co-pilot given a similar sentence.

With regard to the a/c it is still at SEN but rumour is that it is due to move soon after a service.

For the record, CB-J and Peter Carine were each given 20 years, with a minimum time served of two-thirds before parole is considered, i.e. just over 13 1/2 years.

I was at school with CB-J, and it is a bit awesome to think of him being inside until he is pushing 70 years old.

Interesting to know who is going to operate it.

Will be good to see it flying instead of rotting on the ground.

I flew out of Southend today and heard the pilot of the Koda 707 call for ATC clearance at 12.50. I had left the fequency before it received clearance so don't know where it went, it went though!!

It flew from southend to Malta for Maint. Many pictures of the arrival in luqa on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Obigoe; Can you be more spec I could not find the pics yesterday. Do you know why it is in for maint as it has just spent the last six months being serviced and resprayed.

Thanks for that a good set of photos. I was at SEN today and all that we await now is for something to happen to the venrable B707 HZ-123. One rumour relates to it going to Florida to a museum as I have been told it was the No6 production model. Unless anyone can confirm I believe it is stored on behalf of BAe systems that payed for its C check over three years ago. But who owns it now ?

I have just looked in an old B707 book of mine and there is no way that your namesake can be the 6th production model. She is a 707-138B, made her first flight on 20/3/59 and was delivered to QANTAS as c/n 17696 VH-EBA on 16/7/59.

The first production aircraft was a 707-121 c/n 17586 N708PA first flight 20/12/57 and delivered to PanAm on 30/11/58.

So, there were at least 100 707s built before they got round to HZ-123.

I seem to remember that QANTAS was one of the few airlines that bought this model. It was virtually a 320B but with the short fuselage. I was once told that they opted for this long-range version because the runway in Bahrain was only 7000 ft long and that was too short for a 320B.

Great things these old books; it's not often that I get a chance to be a complete anorak!

The 707-138B has not much in common with the -320B, except the engines.

-121 modified wing with additional center tank fuel, and a shorter fuselage, approximately a foot shorter than a 720.
Maximum all economy seating of 166.
Having said this, it had a twelve hour endurance, quite a long way for the time.
Built specifically for QF.
Personally flew these for awhile, good airfield performance.

Zalt ; It was alleged that the refurbishment of the a/c by BAe was part of a part exchange deal involving purchase of Hawk trainers for the Saudi Air Force. Perhaps someone can confirm.

The other issue for those that do not know the a/c is it is reputed to have been the personal a/c for the Saudi Ambassador to the USA primarily and secondary for use by the Saudi Ambassador to the UN. Any futher info much appreciated and I accept it has nothing wat soever to do with F dogs.

the 138B was i think the fastest of the 707s .cruise tables went to .87m and emergency decent .95M
This was the type British Eagle and later Laker used on the Atlantic.
