Channel Express.
See from a wire in the office that Dart Group are getting some more Boings 737 from Australia for their Aviation division Channel Express. Good to see that someone is bucking the present trend
|
Q/C or Pax?
|
but with CEX it does not mean that once the aeroplanes have landed in BOH that they need to depart again...they bought also A300s and teared them apart for spares...

Q/C or Pax? Trying to work whether it's better to be a loadie or a steward, or an under-Stewart??! Scooby went to BMed, didn't he?:D |
There are details of the purchase of 4 x 737-300s from Ansett on the Dart Group website; http://www.dartgroup.co.uk. As has been remarked already, it's good to see some positive forward thinking. Good luck to them. :)Yep, sure is. Edited only to show Website with correct URL. Hogg

Working boy, some loadies like working on the 737 during the summer. It is for some like letting a child go mad in willy wonkas chocolate factory! However as I am old an over the hill ( but not buried in it yet) I will continue to be a member of the sleepless knights. I heard from a ginger beer that 2 of these Ansett 737s were QCs, but have as yet been unable to confirm, that is why I asked the question! See yer in the bar. Commited to cargo thats me?
;) |
Unless they are planning on putting in freight doors then to the best of my knowlege these are all 87-90 generation 737-377's as used by the defunct Ansett Australia passenger airline. Have a look at 737-300 database
|
chocy bars all round then!:D
|
CHANEX B733QC
Chanex acquired ex-LH B737-300QCs as well. LH no longer requires them as done deal with DHL Airways now takes LH cargo capacity using ex-BA B757s no B757SF
|
Have a look at Dununda Page for more info about the new 737's!:D
|
From what I understand of the purchase 2 of the aircraft will remain as they are, in PAX config. Rumblings are that the other 2 may be being converted to QC. I don't think there are any plans to scrap any of them for bits.
The going looks good at EXS Box |
Can I have my Kit-Kat now then?:D
|
You've lost me! Things are looking good at Channex though! At least I hope I won't have to fly EDI-STN-EDI for ever! (I hope)
|
FDD
of course you can have your kitkat now, it's nice to see at least some aren't taken in my the shiny new jet mentality. just remember to work off those calories though!! Box:D |
;) Heard a rumour that one of the new 73's will be based at EXT operating to the Balearics
|
Also hear that these 737's are going to be crewed by Belgian pilots ex Sabena. So much for career progression. Morale sinking fast on turbo prop fleets.
|
EXS Turboprops
Another L188 Electra being broken up in BOH, turboprop fleet slowly shrinks....
|
For info, first B737-300 arrived at Bournemouth yesterday. VH-CZE in full Ansett colours.
No idea what is happening to it as they have parked it in the scrapping line. This may not mean much as it may just be a convenient place to leave it now that European have taken over half of the airfield! |
1st aircraft is in Lasham, the one sitting at Bournemouth is waiting for the hangar slot to become available.:D
|
I stand corrected. I did presume it was in for a paint job at European. It is the first to arrive at Bournemouth however.
|
Does anyone have the latest info on basings for the Channex B737's?
UK or overseas? Thanks, SOP |
'Scuse me - as 4 of the 6 737s are passenger aircraft (alright, 2QC), why is this topic in freight dogs? By my count, at least 20% of Channex is now passenger!
|
I flew one of the ex-Ansett 737's earlier this week on a GO-FLY charter. It is now G-CELS but used to be VH-CZH. For a 1986 aircraft it is very tidy although totally different in layout to our QC aircraft and also fully ETOPS compliant. From the sound of it we have lots of work for it and the others!
|
deeps, because some of them may or may not be converted into QCs . How do you replace a 15 tonne a/c?, either go for the cockroach or go up to a 757 ala DHL. Its sad but the time is near for all those L188s and 727s to vanish from the European hubs, due in no part because of some very fierce green party politics. At least Channex are taking on crews and engineers (how many are struck off the tea list at Happylift this month?). More to the point they employ Europeans including our Estonian friends and are succesful at it. Look at the A300B4 freighters tramping around europe, and ask yourself whose idea that was? Many F/Es are now in employment for years to come. Hope that answers your query?

From July's 'Aviation Letter'
VH-CZG (MSN23659) has gone to Israel for a cargo door to be installed. Will go to CEAS after conversion. |
So there you are deeps, " commited to cargo" and pax!:p
|
Its sad to see the Electras going , a fine aircraft and meny an amusing night spent with the likes of popcorn and oldletch but all in all I think I,m better of at the front of boeings latest offering with five girls to make me tea.
Freightdoggy dog please do not take offence your tea was very welcome at two in the morning but the girls are much more easy on the eye !. |
British girls easy on the eye.:D :D :D :D
That was a good one. |
Has anyone got an idea when the 5th aircraft is due in service?
|
End of August / Sept for the next one me thinks!!!
|
A and C, do not take offence but you were not easy on the eye stuck in the jacuzzi at the Royal Scot. Still squashed between Duct Recovery and Gaw Blimey Christine there was always room for a "little" one! P.S Old Letch sends his regards:D
|
Thank **** for that !
Freightdoggy dog Glad to know that after all these long nights your judgement is still sound and you dont find me "easy on the eye" !.
Look after the old guy because if you dont he will just get into more trouble . Regards A and C maxpowerflap 78 ! |
Those "luverly ladies" of ATC, Hotel Receptions, etc, had better take cover!
