Anyone know anything about the four old ex-Ansett 737-300's that have reputedly been sold to Channel Express in the UK? They announced the purchase here yesterday.

Just a minute! Those are my former babies you're slagging!!
There are much older and higher time airframes doing sterling service in second level operations around the world. Ryanair, for example, have only now ordered the replacements for their 737-200s.
Our 73s were in good nick with great dispatch reliability when the world fell apart, and will give years of good service yet.
I'm not sure which aircraft are being refered to, but CZT for example, was only 8 years old.
Spare a thought for those of us who spent the best years of our lives flying these lovely aeroplanes. I only hope all the ex-Ansett pilots AND aircraft find themselves plying the airways again soon.

As aircraft are leaving MEL for o/s, the ones in the outports are being ferried back to MEL.
As for the specs, not sure, but they sat about 110, most had ACARS & the like, but the gold ashtrays were on the A320's!!!

Lost soul,
24 at the peak, all -300s. Aircraft had 20k engines, were in 114 seat 2 class layout with fore fore and aft galleys. Most had ETOPS approval, SELCAL, ACARS and centre radar/ Electronic Checklist. No QCs.
Do you know what Channex is intending to dp with them?

I'll let you know when they tell me-- they do have a department that breaks up aircraft for spares- but hopefully (we) will fly them to sunny places where we can sit on the beach for a break from the UK weather! According to the database for 737-300's these are the details for CZH.

If they cant ply Australian skies - at least those who flw them know they are out there working still.
It is a far better outcome than winding up in the Arizona desert waiting to be broken up for spares or scrap.

First aircraft is due to arrive in UK Thrursday and enter pax service by July the other 3 to follow, information is that third and forth aircraft may be converted to QC or full freight config this is yet to be confirmed.
Many rumours abound about the work planned for us with these aircraft we shall wait and see.
