''CAPTAIN
After Training = 69,000 dollars'' About the same as a CX or KA F/O. But without housing/education/travel. ''Is it just me or does this pay seem really low for a 747 pilot? Actually, it seems comical.'' It is low - very low. As for the comedy, you won't be laughing if you try to live in HKG or SIN on that money. |
Air Hong kong Interview on the 10th Jan 2011
Hi guys,
Its great to read all those informations and thanks a lot for sharing. I have been invited on the 10 jan for an initial interview and U DO HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRIP. if successfull you ll be called for a second interview and then they ll pay for you airfaire and hotel. Concerning the FO salary, I have read several posts and here is the break down for an FO: FO salary is 46K a year, 3833 usd a month. They pay 32 usd each hr for the first 45 hs. That is 1440 usd a month. Basic plus 45 hs is 5373 usd each extra hr of 45 is paid 70 usd. Let say 5 hs exta a month, thats 350 usd. Basic plus 45 hs plus extra 5 hs thats a total of 5623 USD flying 50 hs a month.perdiems are 700 usd for 8 days. 16 days a month aprox 1400 usd a month. Basic (3833 usd) + 45 hs (32 usd x hr) + 5 hs (70 usd x hr) + Per diems (1400 usd) = 7023 usd a month. 11 months full salary plus 1 month basic salary (vacations with no flying, no per diem, etc) = 81086 usd per year. Well I hope that will help you guys out. Now I m also would like to request some help and assistance from any of you guys if you know how the inteview goes and what kind of quizz and questions they are asking. I heard they have a 50 questions quizz then interview approx 45 min.Does anyone has some more helpfull informations? Thx a lot to all of you guys and wish you all good luck to all of you. |
AHK Interview Late March 2011
Exciting to see some activity with this company. My former colleague is with AHK, due for his upgrade in April. I finally received a letter of invitation for an Initial Interview, and hope that all goes well.
The way the letter reads, it appears as though you automatically get paid for 45 flight hours at the appropriate rate, whether flown or not. Also, their schedule approximates one week on, one week off. No word on any travel privileges or discounts available, though I hear you can jumpseat around anywhere they go. |
Anyone,
Please PM me with some more details about the technical quiz. Your insight will be very much appreciated. How general are we talking? Common US type atp questions, or more advanced like the European type knowledge; entirely two different concepts. Single engine drift down percentages may be general to some. Cheers! |

Very poor Conditions, 5 year contract and 85,000 dollar Bond, rejected the offer

I recently received notice of an interview in Feb. A couple of differences to what 'uschicker' spelt out (in the email they sent me) :-
1. They will pay for my flights and accommodation to attend the (first) interview 2. FO base salary is 48K a year, 4000 usd a month. 3. plus 39 usd paid each hour for first 45 hours 4. plus incentive pay @ 70 usd for each hour per month after 45 hours 5. plus Hourly duty pay is approx $70 usd/day. Average approx 1400 usd/month 6. plus per diem approx $700 usd each 8 day roster 7. Normal roster is 8 on 6 off. Otherwise all others points same. The T&C attachment to the email was dated 28/12/10 so seems like it has been updated. Hope this helps and would appreciate some interview feedback Happy Flying |
Notbelowminima,
Thanks for the info. And this is for 744F FO positions???? Crazy. What are the proposed routes on the 744F (not that it makes much difference at those rates)? Cheers |
So gross pay for an FO is approx,
Basic= $4000 $39 / flying hour (up to 45) 45 x 39= $1755 $70 / flying hour (over 45) 5 x 70 = $350 Hourly duty = $1400 Per diems approx = $1400 -------- $8905 / Month gross 11 Months full pay = $97955 1 Month basic pay = $4000 -------- $101955 approx total per annum gross How much is taxable in HK? I would guess a maximum of 20%? As AHK are a Hong Kong based company, is there not the possibility of a 13 month salary / yearly bonus? |
AHK Interviews
Notbelowminima,
Seems they're sending out different information packets... "Please be reminded that AHK does not provide travel or accommodation assistance to any applicants wishing to attend initial interviews in Hong Kong." Did you petition them for assistance, or maybe have previous type experience for a different deal? Also, my info packet is a bit dated 15 Nov 2010, reflecting slightly lower pay numbers, but that is good to know that they're up! Best of luck to all the interviewees! Anyone planning to be there on 14 March, see you then! |
They don't pay for my flight or hotac, 1st interview in a few weeks from now...
HKG income taxes: 15 or 16 % |
I passed their interview for the A300-600 in 2005 (at that time they were just starting their operation and getting their first aircraft)
The plan was to accomodate pilots in Singapore and to ferry them before and after their week of duty, in one of their cargo flights from SIN to HKG. At that moment trips to HKG interview and hotel were paid. During the interview the Chief pilot was laughing in his presentation of the company, saying verbatim about the terms and conditions " ah for sure it will not be champagne and caviar everyday " (that didn't apply for him obviously) and I remember the salary was miserable. So quite logically I didn't accept their job offer later... |
Didn't go to their interview as they didn't want to pay for flight & hotac :}. I am not a clown and I  ...

Competitive minimums
Setting aside the published minimums for applying, what are the competitive or realistic minimums for getting an interview?
|
Capt J,
I have 7200 TT, 2500 121 Jet PIC (glass, EMB170), 6500 Turbine. No heavy/widebody time. Received the 'Thanks, but no thanks' email a month ago. Good luck! |
85K training bond?
can I get the details of the 85K USD training bond over 5 years?
what the heck that sound way higher than most airlines I've heard. Can I get some details about it? is it depreciating over 5 years? So if you leave say 2 years in you pay 60% of that 85K USD? |
What is the terms and condition for a A 300 Cap or B747 Cap
Is there any age limit like the others Chinese Cie (52-55) |
I'm a B742 guy looking for the direct entry B744 Captain deal - still haven't finished the application; as I have been on the road for a while. I'm here by Cathay City and want to see if I can get a walk in. Does anyone have the Chief Pilots name (or DO, HR, etc)? Anything else that might get me through the door?
Thanks - cheers! RP |
Hi all,
Any update on the T&C for Captains? What's the rate for the first 45 hours an thereafter? Another question, any news regarding pension and gratuity after 3 years? Thanks a lot for your time |
