Is it true that Star Air in Cologne is going on strike next week?

I heard that rumuor as well , where thers smoke there must be fire

Well, first warning was served before Christmas and the second (and last) this week.
Should be WEF Sunday 17th of January 2010 but negotiations just opened again today.
However, the last warning still stands.
Request for mutual assistance tru the usual channels to follow (me thinks).

What are the grievances that need to be addressed / settled ? I was under the impression that Star Air were a rather happy bunch.

The (new) management has "offered" a reduction in both salary and benefits even though the operation has been generating a solid profit.
This has off course sparked some dissatisfaction among the pilot group.

And for the time being strike is still in affect, no progress at all :ugh:

Let see what happens during the next couple of days, 3'rd party assistance today.

Folllowing a marathon session with the public conciliator an agreement was reached just past midnight, postponing any potential industrial action until the result of the vote becomes available in a few weeks.

The proposal have been rejected with 57 against and 33 in favor.

Well what most likely will happen, like it did in A.P. Moeller - Maersk's sailing fleet, they will replace all Danes with Indians, Filippins and Eastern Europeans. :mad:

Rumor has it that one of the pilots saw an (for him) excellent opportunity to seriously brown-nose himself with management, collected a small bunch of traitors and went to management promising that they would go flying, even if the rest of their colleagues stayed on the ground, on strike for better conditions. :=
With that, there was no other choice for the rest than to to go back to more negotiations, with management laughing their heads off all the way to the bank.......

We pilots are our own worst enemies!!

Sadly we will never know the full extent of this and how many :mad:

I know, but it is sad that there are colleagues out there that will do whatever they can to ruin the life and career of their fellow aviators, just to try to advance themselves. :mad:
What a bunch of lowlife bottom feeders, why can they not see that by standing united the chances of reaching an agreement are so much better?

I hope action can, and will be taken against these (hopefully) very few and wish the rest of you good luck in trying to pick up the pieces.

The whole negotiations went into the wrong directions even before they started due to a board full of bloody amateurs, which were run over by the management!

At the end a proposal was signed by the board and the board recommended to vote for it (although later it also came out that the board was split in their decision). Thereafter many of the pilots who always claim "Let's stick together" voted against their board. The consequence was a new automatic strike warning with only very limited time to negotiate and the board failed to resign!

Two things must be clarified:
1. no pilot was well informed by the board about the automatics in Denmark which occur when a strike warning is out and when a strike starts
2. Star Air has basically only ONE customer, while e.g. SAS has millions of customers. No one can predict what happens during or after a strike, we may possibly loose some routes, which means that pilots have to be laid off.

Now a new proposal is out, with only some numbers moved and the biggest problem point still in. But it is expected that the majority will now vote with yes due to some pilots voted no before, but as they said only to give the management a signal and fear the consequences of a strike. It's absurd...

The role of the management was very very tough (as expected, but in my opinion too tough in a company where on-time performance is absolutely vital and pilots with high motivation are needed), the role of the board was amateur level (also as expected). And this confusion is the consequence of all of that... :D:D:D
