I heard that rumuor as well , where thers smoke there must be fire

dusk2dawn 7th January 2010 23:10

Well, first warning was served before Christmas and the second (and last) this week.
Should be WEF Sunday 17th of January 2010 but negotiations just opened again today.
However, the last warning still stands.
Request for mutual assistance tru the usual channels to follow (me thinks).

6000PIC 8th January 2010 00:32

What are the grievances that need to be addressed / settled ? I was under the impression that Star Air were a rather happy bunch.

CF6-80 C2B2F 8th January 2010 08:08

The (new) management has "offered" a reduction in both salary and benefits even though the operation has been generating a solid profit.
This has off course sparked some dissatisfaction among the pilot group.

Two days of fruitless talks - more talk Monday at 10 AM

Best of luck guys!
Maybe you will set a new standard for the business?!

:ok:

HARM Shooter 11th January 2010 08:44

Yep, we gonna work on that...the pilot corps has never been standing so united together... :ok: Guess it will be an interesting week. Greets from CGN.

Any updates??? Inquisitive minds want to know.

PW2040 13th January 2010 06:39

Hi.

Yeah we are still A.P.Moeller owned.

And for the time being strike is still in affect, no progress at all :ugh:

Let see what happens during the next couple of days, 3'rd party assistance today.

Folllowing a marathon session with the public conciliator an agreement was reached just past midnight, postponing any potential industrial action until the result of the vote becomes available in a few weeks.

dusk2dawn 8th February 2010 10:34

The proposal have been rejected with 57 against and 33 in favor.

airslave 8th February 2010 17:29

Star Air?

So what happens now?

Are you going on a strike?

SAS-A321 16th February 2010 03:13

Well what most likely will happen, like it did in A.P. Moeller - Maersk's sailing fleet, they will replace all Danes with Indians, Filippins and Eastern Europeans.

ONCECIMBER 16th February 2010 18:05

Rumor has it that one of the pilots saw an (for him) excellent opportunity to seriously brown-nose himself with management, collected a small bunch of traitors and went to management promising that they would go flying, even if the rest of their colleagues stayed on the ground, on strike for better conditions. :=
With that, there was no other choice for the rest than to to go back to more negotiations, with management laughing their heads off all the way to the bank.......

We pilots are our own worst enemies!!

PW2040 18th February 2010 08:51

Sadly we will never know the full extent of this and how many

ONCECIMBER 18th February 2010 10:08

I know, but it is sad that there are colleagues out there that will do whatever they can to ruin the life and career of their fellow aviators, just to try to advance themselves.
What a bunch of lowlife bottom feeders, why can they not see that by standing united the chances of reaching an agreement are so much better?

I hope action can, and will be taken against these (hopefully) very few and wish the rest of you good luck in trying to pick up the pieces.

Found this, illustrate it nicely.

CGN32R 19th February 2010 21:20

The whole negotiations went into the wrong directions even before they started due to a board full of bloody amateurs, which were run over by the management!

At the end a proposal was signed by the board and the board recommended to vote for it (although later it also came out that the board was split in their decision). Thereafter many of the pilots who always claim "Let's stick together" voted against their board. The consequence was a new automatic strike warning with only very limited time to negotiate and the board failed to resign!

Two things must be clarified:
1. no pilot was well informed by the board about the automatics in Denmark which occur when a strike warning is out and when a strike starts
2. Star Air has basically only ONE customer, while e.g. SAS has millions of customers. No one can predict what happens during or after a strike, we may possibly loose some routes, which means that pilots have to be laid off.

Now a new proposal is out, with only some numbers moved and the biggest problem point still in. But it is expected that the majority will now vote with yes due to some pilots voted no before, but as they said only to give the management a signal and fear the consequences of a strike. It's absurd...

The role of the management was very very tough (as expected, but in my opinion too tough in a company where on-time performance is absolutely vital and pilots with high motivation are needed), the role of the board was amateur level (also as expected). And this confusion is the consequence of all of that... :D:D:D

Cheers

@ONCECIMBER

you better stay with your thoughts in Luxembourg!

CGN32R 19th February 2010 21:30

@ HARM shooter:

Apparently a great misinterpretation by you with a lot of "collateral" damage

ONCECIMBER 19th February 2010 23:26

Dear cgn32r.

That was quite a post but allow me to reply, beginning with a quote from you: "the role of the board was amateur level (also as expected). And this confusion is the consequence of all of that..." End of quote.

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but I do think that the board you mention is elected democratically by majority votes from your very own colleagues, and manned by those who wish to step up and work for better conditions for all of you as a group.
That they have failed to live up to your personal expectations does not make them amateurs, I am sure they have tried their best in a hard negotiation with management.

The real problem is when a selfserving few get the idea that even if they are part of a team, they do not have to respect the desire of the majority of their colleagues. 57 against 33, remember?

When the desire of this majority is undermined, that is when the confusion that you mention, starts. Because that is the whole foundation upon which democracy is built, namely: majority rules.

With regard to your last line, I see that I have touched a raw nerve with you with my opinion on strikebreakers, their morale and attitude towards their very own colleagues.
Luckily we are not in the late 30's anymore and the internet has been invented, so now also foreigners are allowed to have an opinion (and voice it) -of what happens inside Germany, even if the company is Danish.

I know many in Star Air and have high regards for them all, they have always praised the company and the high motivation inside the pilot group. So I sincerely hope that when the next vote comes up, this time the desire of the majority will be respected, letting Star Air continue to grow and be a great place to work.

HARM shooter: Good luck to you and your colleagues, remember to watch your back!
