Belfast/slow heading for the air??
Heard a rumour that BEPS is getting a few props hung on the engines:eek:
Is the Old Gal finally leaving these shores?? VEEPS |
hey VEEPS have you read your emails lately ?
|
Is it heading south - down under - to join the other one?
or is it joining the CL-44-O? |
But HLA barely had enough engines to keep one Belfast in the air so where have these extra engines seemingly appeared from, or did HLA have it wrong and there were plenty of engines available all along?
|
Allegedly thay have 3 engines hung expecting 4th this week followed by rest of props:eek:
VEEPS |
Greetings VEEPS, BBQ's on fire escapes and all that!
Are you still in the same location or was there some falling out with ADB, PM me if you like. Fellow fire escape BBQ'ee |

look,s like they have had three engines in for sometime now & Props no,s 1 & 2 have been fitted over the last few day,s.It would be great to see her fly again along with the 707 which is coming along.
|
VEEPS,
Ah but does Endeavour House have a fire escape with security cameras to train on the BBQ to establish, from sitting indoors, when the BBQ has caught fire? May one presume that Ruslan is a combination of ADB & VDA? I'm off to Ukraine again in 3 weeks from now but not travelling via Kiev to experience the joys of an AN-24, flying direct into Dnepropetrovsk on a Fokker 70 ..... absolute joy! |

Hey Vpeeps

:) Phileas Fogg, Hi
To answer your question re serviceable engines, the problem with HLA was that they had to follow CAA directives to TBO's on the Tyne (about 4000 hrs). However RR lifed the Tyne for about 7000 hrs and other regulatory authorities will accept that..well, some will! VEEP's, Brgds, Mate |
OK J.R. now I understand, it was the Campaign Against Aviation :)
|
:} Phileas, what's with "was"?
|
OK, 'is', 'shall always be' etc.
Do you remember 'Swampy'? Aaah, the good ole days :) |
If anyone,s interested Belfast had No,1 prop turning today.Hopefully there be more whining Tyne,s shortly.
707 looks great with her new old paint livery,QANTAS AUSTRALIAS OVERSEAS AIRLINE. |
Sounds like a job for WAH WAH to take down to Aus!
Tech stopping at the Turkish bath houses and Thai massage palours:ok: Could even get Swallow back from digging his allotment ! |
On an admin issue how does the aircraft stand in respect of its registration. Who is the AOC for it and will it have to leave the UK on another register?
|
It would make sense for her to go 9L- Sierra Leone like her sister.
As for Tyne overhauls who does the tynes in the Atlantic ASW aircraft ? Be lucky David |
I just hope:eek: There is enough work for both beasties and she is not just to replace the first one out there. Does anyone know how busy they are out there heard they had a couple of Boeing 727s on line too?
Be lucky David |
They've got a couple of 727 freighters running out of Qld, along with the live belfast.
The current one seems pretty busy, though a little notorious for delays due to engine troubles. I've seen it go through Perth a couple of times in the last year and I've stood next to it once in Port Hedland (presumably dropping off mining supplies, it's a mining town). Last time I saw it in Perth, it stayed on the ground for 3 days due to engine problems. My first encounter with the belSlow was stepping off a 146 one morning at a normally empty airport, looking up and discovering that you can put turboprops on something bigger than a fokker 50 and that there was a plane even cuter than a quadrapuff (I think I have a thing for fisher price looking planes). The guy sharing my taxi that day couldn't shut me up about it the whole ride! Standing next to the Heavylift was probably the moment that turned me onto planes forever and sent me scrambling looking for aviation jobs, so I'd have to say a second airborne one would be absolutely WONDERFUL! Failing that, I'd like a nice little diecast model one for my desk at least..sigh..what I'd give to go for a fly in that thingy! What are the rules about shipping yourself as oversize cargo again....:} Toast. |
Try the model shop in the Sheraton at Heathrow.
They also have a nice model of the Guppy! |
No.4 turning today just need to hang a prop on No.3 to complete the set.Does anyone know whats happening about gear swings?
|
Dave Brown and Phil Jong have been contracted in to do the gear swings apparently!
|
Found this recent shot of 'PS at SND

The answer in a nutshell is "No". The crews can simply fly on a validation from one country or the other.
|
:} AVG-D, I was involved with the original Sierra Leone registration and the short answer to this is that I doubt if any other country would licence her. If they did then they would be a similar-type AOC "licencer". ie: most things go!
It has been asked how they can get her out of Southend; this was a similar problem we had with FT before I flew her up to PIK for work before she went to Oz. Basically there was a back way that overcome CAA objections. |
