I heard an interesting one today.
The aircraft will be offered, target date 2009 for first flight. 4 more maindeck pallets, 2 more bellies. 136T payload and MTOW around 435T if I got the details correct. Empty weight roughly 180T.
Cargolux will be launch customer.

I thought Cargolux were going for A380:8

A380? Why, did they shift from cargo to parcels?

20 tons increase on the empty weight to carry an extra 6 tons doesn't look too exciting:sad:

Payload increased from 26T to 36T.

MTOW increased by around 37T !!!

Yes, if you find me a highloader everywhere I want to go....

Nice for parcels, nothing for real freight, but Airbus has heared that many times already and still does not believe it...

(On the other hand the 747adv looks really nice for that kind of stuff)

Sources in Chicago told ATWOnline that Boeing possibly may launch the 747ADV without a passenger version at this stage.VP-Marketing VP Randy Baseler would not comment specifically on the model's launch criteria but told this website that he is "positive on a launch." He said Boeing would like to have a passenger version commitment but would not elaborate further on whether it would launch with cargo-only operators.

Airlines have been pressing the manufacturer to commit to the derivative, but some are coy on committing hard cash to the project just yet.

Oh, they learned the lesson from the 747-X time? Then a lot of cargo carriers were hot on the stretch but Boeing did not want to commit becasue they wanted a passenger sale wich they could not get. And at the time they really beleived that (contrary to what was told to them) LHC would buy the standard 744F. Stretch, yes, standard, no...

Even Boeing seems to be willing to learn these days...
