Dear Air Contractor pilots (ATR),

How is the roster for the moment? How many days a month do you work? And in what kind of ON - OFF shedule?
What is the net salery after tax of an FO year 1 or 2?

The net salary will depend on where you live, if you are married or not, if you have children or not, if you have a good tax advisor or not, etc, etc...:ooh:

ppjn fairly accurate on the payscales. depends if uk or eurozone based.
Rosters well..... depends where you are based. how long is a piece of string?
Duties only unstable due to WX, sickness and noisey hotels.

I've had a good look around the web for info on Air Contractors and would be grateful if anyone in the know could help me out on a couple of points about ACL. As a SLF TP F/o who finishes back where I start everyday, get's to sleep in my own bed everynight, night freight op's are somewhat alien to me. As there's no future at my current operator i'm trying to get a feel for freight and see if it would be an option to move on to.

I would be grateful if someone could answer some queries I have about ACL.
Do they only take on type rated bods or will they take on experienced non-rated F/o's?
Do they have relationships with any particular TRTO?
Roughly speaking is it a Monday-Friday operation? Does this mean you report to your base on a Sunday night (for arguments sake) and thats you away on tour for 5 days? Therefore would commuting from the central belt of Scotland be an option?
Chances of a UK mainland base?
If you are based at a UK base do you get paid in Euros or Sterling as per PPJN?

Like I say, any info would be great as i'm just trying to weigh up my options.

So net salery is above 3000€ on the bank account every month for beginning FO's I can see based on above information?

Regarding the roster and base...
How many days a month do you work? And is it 2 week / 2 week then?
Can you choose base on the EU mainland?

Is Mad Max still at the helm ?

Many thanks for the info hardcase. Air Contractors looks like a nice outfit to work for. I've always been against paying for ratings but the ATR actually looks like quite a good rating to have on your licence. With a couple of obsolute (but good aircraft) ratings on my licence, I might have to bite the bullet and splash some cash to move on me thinks. Freight might well be the future. Will give Sky Blue a call for further info.

Do you have to be in the vicinity of the base on the week contactable?

United, you can also expect 3 weeks on 1 week off, if you are not as lucky as hardcase :E

A few quick questions for the chaps in the know;

If wanting to apply but don't have a rating, is it best to go through the route of getting a SSTR first or do Air Contractors not entertain that?

Basically, I can't work out if I should contact Sky Blue first or the airline directly.

Also, is the stirling contract a straight £/Euro conversion of what's on PPJN or is it a different beast altogether?

Finally, what are the chances of a MAN base?

Hardcase, thanks for the reply. Sorry - I should actually read the thread before posting.

From what I can gather, even if I were to go down the SSTR route, there are enough out there with time on type who would obviously get in first.

Or in other words, hold on to your £15,000. Is this a fair comment?
