I think Day Dreamer means EMA-CVG-EMA. Don't think CVT trip quite merits a 767!

@ Mr. White

For DHL UK I don't know the situation that well, but for now, LEJ-based, on a UK contract... so I suppose you pay tax in the UK.

At the moment 10 people in the holding pool and no hiring forseen in the near future.
(Recently 2 EAT capt's transferred to DHK, but besides that nothing is moving from what I hear)

Rosters are published 2 months in advance if I'm correct, and are unstructured... But the days should stay fixed.

But to be honest I don't think they will be hiring soon, and surely not at EAT. Only internal transfers.

Hope to be of help.

Mr White,

First an update on the 767's. The first one has gone back to Greenborough because, as i understand it, the winglet is chaffing the leading edge slat and aileron (spotted by chance by an eng looking at the led lights on wingtip) The second arrived for it's winglet fitting but has lost a load of paint, so is off back to seattle for repainting. No 767 ops anytime soon then!

Secondly. There was a fixed roster until jan this year which was arbitrarily withdrawn with no good reason, much to the disapproval of the crews. The roster is now flexi! Most crews very unhappy at the moment, relationship with management is poor as there is very little communication or consultation. A recent govt approved independent poll for BALPA revealed an overwheming decision in favour of BALPA as the union of choice, but the management signed a sweetheart deal with the IPF instead(not 1 person voted for the IPF in the poll).

The 767 will be operating outside of CAP 371, the CAA has allowed this as long as DHL Air have a robust FRMS in place to monitor fatigue issues, which have long been ignored on the 757 fleet. Eventually the aim is to have everyone operating both types.

Morale is very low. But as the erstwhile DFO points out frequently, they are lucky to have jobs, if you don't like it leave!

I believe the salary scales are on PPJN. Captains are working quite hard at the moment, F/O's not so much. POssibility of more recruitment later in the year, but I think maybe for F/O's only. As soon as the market picks up there will be a mass exodus though so mid/long term, recruitment will be quite good!

Only recruiting for the LEJ base. At the moment quite a few crews commute in from various locales in europe. This was part of the culture and lifestyle but has recently been frowned upon by management and their lives made more difficult.

Pay is in UK and tax is payed there unless you live abroad and want to pay in your country of residence. There is talk of a possibility to be payed in euros to a german bank from 2012. An indication I think that the whole airline could be moving there in the not too distant future.

Hope this helps

Mr.White 18th Sep 2009 13:01

Helps a lot. Tks!

What is the base like at LEJ -
Friendly?
Fairly English speaking?
Schools?
Housing costs?
Nice area?
Safe?

Usual stuff!
I would need to de-camp and take out my wife and 3 children.
