Irish Crews To Fly Fedex A310
Rumours in Dublin that Air Contractors and Fedex are looking into putting a Fedex A310 onto the Irish register. With rumours that Fedex will be laying off 14,000 people worldwide and under investigation by the US taxman, looks like they have picked a good time to have a fight with the pilots union. I thought the pilots union had an agreement where connies could only fly upto a certain size/weight of aircraft? Any replies from our American brothers greatly appreciated

Just to clarify that FedEx are not laying off 14000 employess. They are offering an early retirement and voluntary severance programme to salaried U.S. employees in the Express division, of which 14000 employess are ELEGIBLE. This is not the amount they plan to lay off.
Secondly, the A310 rumour was true, however, today we have heard it will be one of AirContractors own B4's doing the DUB-STN-CDG in place of there own C130. Think the ACL crewed FedEx A310 idea has gone out the window. Would have made it interesting with our pilots union though!

I didn't see anything about the IRS and Fedex. In any case, large US corps are under constant IRS audit, and if they're are issues they're usually settled, and are not enough to affect business operations.
