Freight Dogs Finally a forum for those midnight prowler types who utilise the unglamorous parts of airports that many of us never get to see. Freight Dogs is for pilots and crew who operate mostly without SLF.

Tashkent/baku/almaty/bishkek/ashgabat

Can anyone help in identifying Europe-Far East freighter services that habitually (or usually, at any rate) tech stop at points in Central Asia?

Any general feedback on operational experience at such places - ATC, fuelling, crew reporting facilities, weather etc - would also be much appreciated.

Hi Thunder,

KAL was or still us using UTTT as a refueling stop on their way to Korea. I also think that I may recall a BAW freighter service stopping over at either UAAA or UTTT.

Cheers

Thanks - I'd forgotten completely about BAW freighter activities.

Thunderball, Lufthansa Cargo operates through Tashkent quite often, I think on their way to Shanghai, Seoul and Beijing (HKG should be via SHJ, Japan via FAI). Do you need more precise information about LH-Cargo at TAS?

Cheers,
J.V.

Hey VP8, If Stan the Man is holding the petty cash, I have no doubt that the supplies of Bacon butties and Vodka are flowing freely. Give him my regards as I last saw him mashed in a Luxembourg irish bar called The Pygmallion.

CR2, acmi48, JV, VP8, thanks for your posts. Your LH steer is particularly appreciated, JV.

On the subject of WX, is it a fair assumption that Baku is better than the "Stans" - TAS, FRU, Alamaty etc?
