ASL, lotīs of chatter at the coffee machine

whats wrong at ASL? cuts in the CH, HU and now Spanish OPS, I thought they were doing quite well with the new 3V/FX contracts added recently,744s plus operating the recently converted busses for Duey,Huey & Lewy.... all going a bit up the spout at present for the external observer.
I especially wondered about issues with the HU ops, thought that would be rock solid & cheap. anyone know more?

Cheap isn't always best.
Are you stirring the coffee or just fishing

Neither, a lot of good old friends there and things don't seem all that well, so a topic worthy of discussion I would think!

Doomed

Bit off MUCH more than they can chew with the TNT purchase. Propped up with a COLOSSUS of debt. Cheap interest rates has them treading water, but watch the fun start when interest rates rise after Easter.

When will people ever learn? You simply cannot trust Belgians.

Nice people in ASL but their salary is way below norm . a lot of folks and particularily experienced Captains leaving for other (mainly Nordic ) pastures.

ASL Switzerland have ceased ops, and ASL Spain is to also cease ops. With all 5 of the Hungarian registered 737's due to transfer to ASL Ireland (according to Jethro) then I wouldn't be surprised if ASL Hungary joins this list.

Well, I don't know if I quite agree with that, surely some serious due dillgence was done after you offer to buy the operation TWICE (FX and during the 5X takeover attempt prior to that). Yes, Belgian labour laws are different, they knew that and received rock solid contracts to enable them to deal with it. Now the news for the Panair guys, and yes - they were not the cheapest, but ran a solid and reliable ops with what they had! The only good news there is, the market will swallow these professionals rather quickly , giving them new opportunity
I do not agree with your comments relating to the Belgians, nobody bought a surprise, no jack in a bag, they got what they purchased.

CH, as sad as it is, is another matter, especially for an operator with IE roots, I don't think there is much to say about cost structures etc. As sad as it is for the jockeys involved!

Hungary - that one leaves me scratching my head, hence the question of what is really going on at a short and mid term strategic level within ASL?

Hi guys,
does any of you have an idea of a net monthly for a Cpt? I've been given gross figures for a UK contract, I have no idea about UK taxation and my mortgage repay is not really interested in my gross pay.
any clue?

thanks! Let's say it gave me an idea. A little sad one.
Anyway I think allowances and other stuff, such as perdiems, taxation may be different, making my rough figures less sad
