Excess Baggage / Freight Advice

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone could offer some advice on this:

Our traveller needs to get excess baggage back to London - the airline won't allow on the plane due to piece and weight restrictions.

Approx 7 bags and 175kg. The luggage will be clothing and specialist photography equipment. We are needing a same day or next day delivery as follows:

Collection from a hotel (TBA) in Maspalomas, Las Palmas, Spain at 7.30am/8am on Wednesday 9th October.

Delivery to two separate Central London addresses on the 10th of October.

I've tried all of the usual suspects - DHL, UPS etc etc but no luck as of yet.

Any advice is greatly appreciated - just fire a PM at me.

Admins, Please feel free move this thread if you find that it will fit better in a different forum.

Many Thanks and Kind Regards,

WG

I would be suprised a bit disappointed if DHL couldn't do it for you, but it won't be cheap.

Try Googling for "forwarding agents las palmas" or, "las palmas cargo agents" or, "freight forwarders las palmas", etc, (I just did, there seem to be plenty), and contact a few for quotes.
However, FORGET same day or next day delivery though, and be prepared for mountains of paperwork and then paying through the nose! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

I'd like to think that DHL could do it for you (don't have the flight schedules to hand, but I bet it could be done), but it will cost and might take 2 days! I'm guessing it would be to Mad, then via the network to the uk.

Try starting with DHL | United Kingdom | English although you may have already tried that.

Good luck.

Take it with you. Excess baggage charges will likely be similar or lower than DHL, etc...

Put a large poster outside hotels freguented by English guests...Uffer, say, £ 50 per bag, to volunteers to carry your "excess baggage" (plus, of course, the excess charges.
I can imagine a few "spent-up" holiday-makers would be happy with a quick few quid.
