Ups/Maersk EDI
I work on the ground at EDI and have a question. The Maersk/star air/ups cargo kite, it's a 763 and every time he takes off he goes up with some oomph! I take it, as a cargo pilot you can have a little fun with your aircraft as there's no punters to be sick/scared etc? I know on dep there is a maximum alt while flying the sid but he seems to get to that alt (I think it's 6000 feet) by the time he gets to the end of the runway. The guys a legend, I always stop what I'm doing to see him take off.

Hi waving tug boy,
it is B767-200 we are flying into EDI. The reason for this high performances on take-off is, that we are departing with little fuel load and sometimes not too much
payload for a 767. Thus, we sometimes see climb rates of close to 6000 ft/min,
which in deed is some funfactor for the two of us in front ;-)

Hey thanks for the reply.
I wonder what the BA 767 climbs at compared to you guys. 6000 ft per min!!! It's absolutely spectacular watching you guys take off. I'm back on back shift Saturday Sunday Monday, I'll watch out for you again, feel free to waggle your wings for the Easyjet ramp.
