JFK's sad looking cargo buildings

I occasionally fly a freighter into JFK. The cargo buildings there almost invariably seem to date from the sixties if not earlier, without a pint of paint having been applied since then. Most of these buildings look about ready to come down, and the don't look any better inside.
What gives?
The state of some taxiways and ramps is no better, at least they seem to be renewing the taxiways in the CA-CB area, the ramps are awful though.

Comparison with a certain continent seems not to be far off.

I remember reading somewhere a couple of years ago that there are a tremendous amount of bridges just waiting to collapse. No money to keep them maintained it seems.

The whole damn city... Corruption? HA, poor infrastructure, massive demand, the older the worse. It has nothing to do with the current admin as the common culture in this vast nation is falling behind the curve. Idiocracy of a nation of 311 million is to blame.

And no.

Corrupt and incompetent politicians have enjoyed steady employment for many many generations.

The physical deterioration of America is a relatively recent phenomena that's a direct result of deliberate divestment by the monied class.

So what are they divesting? The rich already pay the bulk of taxes in the US. Social engineering gone haywire if you ask me. Welfare for companies that deserve to die and as well as individuals. Throw in bloated entitlement programs, and crazy wars.

Back in the 1980s it was said that absolutely nothing could happen at the cargo side in JFK without the agreement of a large extended family in New York. This family had Italian connections.

JFK is very large, making its infastructure complex, and very old. In a perfect world it would close for 2 years while it was leveled and rebuilt.

There are many good freight facilities in the United States, but JFK is never going to be one of them.

I sincerely apologize for what I wrote. In no way did I intend to offend anybody.

Absolutely correct for the time period mentioned.

The family running the show were the well known Lucchese and their main guy running the JFK gig was Frank Manzo, who practically controlled the unions present at JFK.

Same guy who organized the legendary Lufthansa heist. About $20 million in money (2012 money) and jewelry were stolen.

I suggest reading this 1987 Fortune article:

HOW THE MAFIA LOOTS JFK AIRPORT More than $59 billion of freight and 27 million passengers a year are irresistible pickings for mobsters, who have made it a hotbed of stealing, smuggling, and extortion. - June 22, 1987
