Are there still bank runs?
I'm curious - in this age of electronic banking and bPay/EFTPOS, is there still a need for bank runners to ferry cashed cheques around the countryside?
I remember flying in and out of Bankstown in Australia and having to hold short waiting for MU2s and Aero Commanders to come in....
If bank runs still occur, what equipment is used now? Has the equipment changed with the times?
Just curious

Used to be a C130 flew from my part to Manila known as the 'Gold Flight' taking mined gold to the Central Bank.
You will find similar flight operating in Angola.

Yup
Hi,
Bank runs still going strong in AUS. Most of what I know of happens under the Toll Priority banner up and down the J-curve.
Metro 3/23's used ex-YSBK and YBBN. Good fun single-pilot when the weather's nice...
Bunch of other bank runs ex-YSBK, YBBN, YMEN, YPAD etc. using piston twins and singles (maybe a couple of single turbines too). All up around 35-45 aircraft nationwide on a daily basis.
grade-3

Ram Air Freight (based either RDU or CLT) is hiring. when i worked for them a while back, they operated seneca, lance, barron and c402 types. now they are down to just the seneca and lance... so my guess is that the business is down. but still there.
