"Quality" Emergency STN

An Icelandic registered A300F landed to a blue light reception at STN last night. I overheard on a BAA staff radio that he had declared a Mayday! The landing was uneventful & he taxied to stand. The right engine was shut down & the reverser (I could only see the outboard sleeve) deployed. Heard later he had gone around after attempting to land at EMA.
It may have been a fairly routine divert, but the mayday (if true) & the reverser seemed a bit unusual to me.

I was at EMA (EGNX) after the event, but apparantly the Air Atlanta A300-600 had a pod strike the runway during a cross wind landing. There were lots of sparks and it went around. It then diverted to STN.

It's being reported as a tail strike.

Tail strike, thrust reverser partly deployed and still decided to go around and fly to ánother airport? Interesting call.
