Who made money on the World Cup?

So which contractors made money on the FIFA World Cup business?

We know Luzair didn't after they stranded the Nigerian soccer team in the UK

Any other horror stories or happy stories out there?

Rollins Air completed all flights on schedule with minimal snags, so I'm told.
L1011-500 aircraft work well for long range flying.

Is Luzair particularly geographically challenged? I mean, why would anybody fly from Nigeria to South Africa via the UK?

PS
Corrected the spelling mishtake for you.

Virgin did

Apparantly they made a shedload of cash carrying 30 odd pieces of useless ballast in the front end of the upper deck, rather than down below where it should have been

Their only mistake was to bring said useless ballast back to the UK again

Thanks for the correction!

The Nigerian team were training in the UK and a charter broker arranged the travel with Luzair from the UK to SA

Considering that the vast majority of the national squad plays for European teams, and that the rest came either from Eastern European, Russian or Israeli clubs (in other words, not a one from Africa), that was probably a smart move, quite unlike your comment.

(and yes, this should be deleted, as well as the previous post)
