F1 cargo flights to Bahrain

Any idea who is operating the F1 cargo flights to Bahrain this year and when they are departing? I understand that they are leaving any day now. I seem to remember that last year most of the UK flights were out of EMA on Singapore Airlines

I always thought Stansted saw most of the flights but, hey ho.

This sounds like a spotters question, if so, you've posted it in the wrong Forum.

It's the usual crowd year in, year out. FOM (who do the logistics) work with a handful of carriers. Screw-up and they'll drop you though.

Working with FOM in my experience is an L/Ms dream. These guys (AW and believe his son had the same initials) know all variations of 74F maindeck configs you can imagine. They make their own loadplans, rarely need changing (perhaps a tweak here or there to your tastes/odd performance issue...).

March again already ... vroom

Daft question probably but do they stop off in Italy to pick up Ferrari or do they make their own arrangements?

VG, not a daft question. Depending on what was decided, they'll use MXP or MUC for Ferrari. Again, FOM have a large say into which airports are used; MUC is (or was) on the "very good" list - I've been out of euro scene for a few years now.
Ferrari would fly on an Italian aircraft. Or a foreign one with an AZ call-sign. I've seen Atlas @ MUC in AZ colors for Ferrari (yes yes, I know 5-6 years ago).

Maeshe.. that is not 100% true. Some Atlas flights etc etc.

Atlas also flies for other airlines.

Maeshe, Atlas has operated 2 flights from EMA to BAH, the first one was a Calssic 747 using a GIANT callsign, and the other was a 747-400 operating as EK.

Sitting corrected....

My point was more "pro-EK" than "anti-5Y"....
(...wasn't aware of the other Atlas flight)

In days gone past - the `Bernie Road Show` has picked up in UK and Italy. Italy was used by Ferrari,Toyota, Toro Rosso and BMW. Im guessing now BMW are Sauber and Toyota gone its just 3 to load in Italy

Beg to differ on that one chap. I know for a fact that the Toyota freight always went via MUC

There's an ACG 747F sitting on the ramp at BAH today plus a Southern Air 747F (but expect that's a US military movement)
