What Aircraft carries 8000kg Cargo Only and what op's cost
Hi all,
Any one can help on this subject, I would like to find out what aircraft can carry 8000 kg (cargo only - no px) at least 600NM? and at what op's cost would this a/c operate at?
Thanks
GR

A DC-4 can carry 20000lbs for 800Nm easily, the ops costs would be around 2400usd per hr speed 165Kts fuel burn 1000lts Ph. I have one available

A B737-200F would do it a lot quicker, and probably for less than the DC-4 and with no hazzle finding AVGAS. Same goes for a 146.

the bae atp should offer a 8413kg payload; range 632nm block time 02:40; flt 02:30 trip fuel 1750kg and a ramp required fuel 2470kg

The 4 is old and slow but who cares, we want to fly, right? Its much more fun to fly than a jet. Its age? well that reflects in its value at < 300k with engines at 35k, its a bargain. It can do the same job as a 1mil machine. AVGAS is no problem if you are organised. Another advantage is I dont need 1 mil deposit to position or 125 hrs per month guarantee.

AVGAS is usually much more expensive than JETA1, let alone block speed of DC4, overall cost will be higher than anything else. It can compete on some very short hops, where utilisation is next to nil and speed doens't matter, but on 800nm even modern turpoprops are not very competitive

We have 3 4's at present all airworthy and ready to rock and roll. If its a genuine contract we talk about the price, we compete with DC-9's and do okay. We have experience at positioning AVGAS to non AVGAS regions .
The OP stated he wanted at least 600 miles. I would imagine starburst merely found two cities just over 600 miles, put the data into a flight planning program an repeated what came out.
If you do want an 8t ATP, make sure your freight will fit volumetrically. It can be a bit awkward to get things through the door sometimes...

The DHC-5 Buffalo, 18000 lb payload and is capable of going 600 nm fully loaded, rear loading door also works well for oversized loads. One of the problems with this plane though is that there aren't very many remaining and finding replacement parts can be difficult aand expensive
