Atlantic Airlines L188
Does anyone know how much longer the L188 ELECTRA is expected to stay in service with the company??. The company has started to introduce the Boeing 737 to replace the Electra.

Thought the 737 was operated for a third party carrying horses, not replacing the L188, but I am not linked to the company in any way shape or form. Seems the L188s will last as long as the work for them lasts and long may it last.

The 737 is a one off. It's under management and used by Sheik Al'somethingorother to fly his pet horses around Europe. Although our management would like to get their mitts on it to fly boxes around the Sheik would rather they did not.
The Electra is not being phased out in any systematic way. The planes are getting towards the end of their working life and some are probably not capable of passing C checks. Replacement was a big topic a year or two back but for now management seem more interested in the Gay TP (ATP) and winning new contracts for that. So, who knows what the future holds.

Let's not be hasty here. The Electra is a workhorse with a proven track record and a commitment from the company until 2015 (as per the last count). These a/c are owned outright so their commercial value to the company is extremely high. Yes, they do need some work but money is always ploughed in to get them back in the air. With the recession as is currently, the company is taking a rather realistic outlook and waiting until things get better before spending more money than they should. However, I firmly expect to be flying the old girls for years to come!
