Polar/Atlas Board Seat Vote for 1224
If you work for Polar/Atlas it is highly recommended that you vote YES to get two seats on the Board. There are some important decisions to be made and if we have no voting rights at this level then we're sold down the river . . . .once again. Voting ends by July 16th (I think). If you haven't received your ballot package in the mail make sure you call the local to get one.
What good does a union do for you if you have others making decisions NOT on your behalf? Get the word out and vote YES on this very important subject matter.

NO.
Two board member or none, what's the difference? ABX will have total control either way. Should 200 crew members control 700 crew members? No way, I rather pack my bags and leave. They need us more then we need them.

The new union web site has a bulletin board system now. You just have to be a member in good standing and registered. I think the former is required to vote on the bylaws. The web site and forum is at http://wwc.apa1224.org/
It only takes being one day late to be in bad standing for those without dues check off that are interested in voting.

Deisel,
I assume you're not Polar/Atlas judging by your post. Any seats are good seats. You never know. I'm on the Polar side of things and Bourne sold everyone down the river --except for those of us that voted ALPA. We're only along for the ride. What I mean by this from what I understand there will not be a local union now. It's all at the National level. Correct me if I'm wrong.
There's no reason a union (the 76 drivers) that isn't flying our routes or planes should make decisions for us as a whole. Nothing against you guys but it just doesn't seem right. What do board members know about what we need for scope, protections, etc? Where we've been, where need to go, etc.?

I have my ballot. I'm voting for the bylaws. Some representation is better than the alternative. I have faith in Steve R, Bob K. and the rest of the WW Negotiation Team. Overall I feel they are looking out for the interest of all WW Pilots. United we stand, divided we fall.

I have never been a member of ALPA but have been in the IBT for a long time. Being a rep at the Local Level has absolutely no impact on your Union membership running under the local. If you have a strong EXCO, that is all you need.

I just don't get why Atlas crews want to take over their local. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe a lot of Atlas crews are still thinking ALPA, I just don't know, and want to understand why.
