UAE bans AN-12
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) banned the AN-12 from its airspace since 08. 01.2009
In November, an An-12 plane carrying FedEx cargo crashed in Iraq killing seven people.

If this is correct, I can count atleast two Asian carriers, who have chartered AN 12s, and are sometimes sent to UAE for cargo flights .... and these flights were real money makers for the airlines.
And the servicing and support was out of Sharjah.
