To all the Freight Dogs tonight

To all of you drilling holes in the sky tonight or offloading somewhere not very nice far away from home.

Thinking of you. Get home safe to those you love & who love you.

All the best for 2009.

And CR, I recommend you fly to Narita from Anchorage, the morning of the 31st.
Then immediately jump seat back to Anchorage, and enjoy TWO happy new years.

Red face New years beer, and no fear

I spent New Years in a hotel room (big surprise) on rest after a very long day. Round about midnight some knob shouts with glee and fires off about 10 cartridges. The really funny thing about it was that absolutely nobody cared and nobody called the police.

I had the briefly odd thought that if a round hit my plane, it might not pressurize as well........then I passed out again.

Happy New Year!

In the mid-1980s, got a couple of 7.62 mm holes in our wing.
While on approach, ILS landing South in Beirut, over the city.
Although the DC-8 was painted in Saudi colors...
Supposedly we were the "good guys" visiting our brothers.

Local sport in that part of the world...
As much as in Los Angeles.
In the early 1990 riots, South L.A., a 727 got bullet holes too.
Avoid landing ILS 25L/R when riots reported by LAX NOTAMs.
And the entire USA airspace at midnight on new year.
