more clouds over zimbabwe carrier

Tesco supermarket decided yesterday 1 july to ban ALL IMPORTS FROM ZIMBABWE.

It is very likely all other english supermarkets will follow, european supermarkets come later.

In the European parliament, talks have started to put a complete tradeban on Zimbabwe, this can include full prohibition of all Zimbabwean carriers into Europe.

Import ban

Just read an interesting blog:

"Instead of arresting the genocidal maniac illegally claiming to be the President of Zimbabwe when he visited Rome in June, the brains in Brussells simply turn the thumbscrews on the little guys in Zimbabwe trying to survive from the tattered fragments of their horticultural industry. These include the last of the white farmers who fight everyday to keep their farms and blacks who you can be sure mostly voted for Morgan Tsvangirai. Pull the visa's of Mugabes cronies kids studying in Europe, the US and Australia if you want to hurt that regime, rather the knock the last stuffing out of ordinary Zimbabweans".

Makes you think ?. Banning Zimbabwe carriers from Europe also isolates the place completely, which simply creates a North Korea type environment for Mugabe & Co. to coninue their rape and pillage ..

Coleman, there are other means a routes that exporters can follow, like overnight refrigerated trucking to JNB, and out of JNB on mainline reputable freighters. They do this anyway and much cheaper than flying out of Harare.

Please also bear in mind that many of those farms in Zimbabwe that were seized, were taken not for land value/worth - but as running concerns, implements, processing, cold storage and all.

Most of the fresh produce and flower farms now belong to generals and Mugabe's cronies - there are very few of the "traditional" farmers left on their land.

It is better to bring an abrupt halt to Mugabe and his henchemen and their income potential, and assist those sincere commercial farmers back on their feet again when the despotic regime has been changed.

A total ban on all Zimbabwe registered aircraft should be imposed because nothing moves or works in Zimbabwe anymore if some senior government hobnob doesnt have a share in it.

AAL, well there you go again.

Does this really solve the issue? The ones to loose will be the pilots, engineers and the others used to make an airline work. The industry just does not need such an event at this precise time. Airlines going bankrupt, orders canceled and planes parked.

Perhaps give this some consideration prior to conducting your own apparent vendetta and remember it is after all a "pilots" forum you are using to preach your own views / values.

AAL,

I have a friend with Zim registered aircraft. The UN use this aircraft for mercy flights and as an air ambulance. He has absolutely nothing to do with the Zimbabwe government. So again, banning all Zim aircraft would probably just hurt the little guys ... or maybe a ban on Zimbabwean imports makes a new market for Ugandan perishable products

Coleman, of course nobody wants tsee harm to your friends business, unless of course he also has Zimbabwean Generals as his partners, or he flies Mugabe's cronies produce to western markets.

If he is a bona fide and independent operator flying for the UN hope he goes from strength to strength.

But Avient also flies for the UN and UNHCR, doesnt say much for their hypocracy and double standards.

On one hand the UN is investigating Avient for their role in the DRC conflict, and other dubious activities in Africa, and on the other they fly for the UN organs, like they doing again on Monday from Thailand to Johannesburg.

Sick!
