Four Cargolux B744F's for sale

Does anyone know why Cargolux are currently offering four B744F's for sale ? The aircraft are MSN's 29729/29730/29732 and 30401 respectively LX-MCV/NCV/PCV and TCV - all relatively recent aiframes and all RB211 powered airframes. Or is this merely another "sale and lease-back" deal ?

TCV is the one that ended up on it's nose doors and needed a significant amount of rectification work to make it airworthy again, so it could be that they will sell that one "out of sequence".

It could be (speculation on my part) that this is part of the fleet replacement plan for the introduction of the new -800's. If I remember rightly, previously they concluded deals on older airframes well in advance of the introduction of newer airframes.

It's definately not a "sale and lease back" deal. Those are concluded at the dinnertable at the home of the CFO. He is a part owner of the leasingcompany......

I'm seriously surprised these haven't been snapped up by Air Atlanta for a lease-back option.

If they had CF6 motors they would be an easier sell. Cargo Lux will probably not be releasing these airframes until the -8`s are about to come on line so probably not a reduction in airframes, just preselling the older Roller birds!

Something to do with an airline in the -stans. Cheap 2nd hand recently bent aircraft vs.cheap fuel. Go figure.

Google a picture of PCV (for example) and see it's paint job...

Rumo(u)rs of course.

Aircraft have been advertised on Speednews since last year. If memory serves me right via DVB bank. But not available until next year, so this must be part of the company fleet renewal plan

Can anyone confirm that the sale of the Cargolux 400's with RR's are not a sale or lease back. If not for lease back why would anyone forward buy now and lock up their money. Apparently 2 went off the market early this year and are now back on. I assume the deals collapsed.
