Unhappy Dodgy dealings at AFX

Hello all, long time no play:

Heard a rumour t'other day that a crew member at AFX called in to see the big boss, who asked him to refrain from reporting various (minor) mtx problems with the aircraft. Excuse being, that the company needed to be more profitable and that through his dilligence he was hindering such profiteering....

The chap argued, quite correctly that this should not be the case, in vain, without support from crew management, and subsequently resigned. (Good on him, I say.)

Apparemtly CAA now interested...

Anyone know for sure that this is / was the case? Or just another viscous attack at the new kids on the block ?

Appreciate any info - rumour or otherwise.. .Cheers. .Z.

AFX owes a lot of money. From what I heard they will be sued in UK for several cases in next few weeks if bills will not be settled before that time.

Got a call late last night and heard administrator called in at 5pm yesterday evening.

Tempted to post this on the main forum for feedback...but I'll get my arse kicked!

Anyone know the administrator?

Interesting stuff. Many of you know that I work for Cargolux. AFX were flying for us for quite a while. Very nice people to work with, so I really hope this is not true.

This dont help any one, rummour should be that..

when its this serious in thin trading times it could tip the balance... we all owe people a responsibility on jobs... sure honest hot news, when accurate,, questions on finacial stability are fine as they help people know that there may be issues.. and on genuine saftey we all wanna hear any thing thats out of line

can i go back to sleep now?

Logistic: Couldn't agree more. Ok, so this is a rumour network; however it should be perfectly clear that rumours can cause all kinds of trouble, especially when they turn out to be incorrect.. .Let's just say that this thread has caused some questions to be asked & people's time to be, well, wasted is the only word I can think of.. .I continue to wish all the best to my colleagues at AFX.

So So sorry...

I inferred from the title of the site that rumours were allowed....didn't know that it was only positive rumours!

Just remind me next time that when adverse news is received, I'll just let you all find out when the Almighty tells you.......

Tick Tock Tick Tock........

Its well worth remembering that without rumours circulating several outrageous scoundrels would have continued to raid their employees pension funds..(Maxwell), trade although legally bankrupt...(many)...this IS a rumours network, and not anyones personal fiefdom!. .As for AFX,wasn't the start of the thread about concealment of engineering defects.....

Well said legolas.

Thread was meant to entirely about issue of safety, and the intention to protect those involved with the operation.

I haven't a clue about their financial state - apart from an implied drive to maximise profitability, albeit with a somewhat perilous strategy.

Also, there are many carriers around that supposedly operate with similar lack of principals, and continue to get away with it, and make money, so this thread shouldn't be entirely surprising to anyone...

Absolutely no intention on my part to put anyone out of work, there's already too many around like that! But safety still should remain paramount, regardless.

Z.

Small item in this weeks Air Cargo Week (11/2) where an AFX spokesperson says business is going well, they hope to re-start US schedules this year and have sourced a 3rd aircraft for expected delivery in the 2nd half of 2002.
