Post A Question for Atlas Pilots

Boys, Is it true that you allow flight attendants to jumpseat? If so do we have to wear our uniform or just our ID badge? (Well not JUST the ID badge .....you know what I mean) If these rumors are correct can you give me the scoop on how to do so, and additionally what airport in the London area do you fly in/out of? I will bring cookies for the cockpit if that is incentive.

My dear GALLEYWENCH. Unfortunately the FAA will not allow ATLAS AIR to carry flight attendents anymore. This has upset the pilot group and are still trying to resolve this. But I think this is preaty much a dead issue.

PS
Please don't tease us anymore about just wearing you ID Badge....besides where would one find a place to clip one on.

Galleywench,
Unfortunately Atlas management and the FAA have done away with the FA jump seat for the moment. It all hinges on the FAA interpretation of "flight crewmmember". We are working on the issue through several channels, but, I am told, "these things take time." Sorry. Any chance we could still get the cookies?

It just seems weird that we can carry couriers, animal handlers(the last ones of that bunch I carried didn't speak english), military protectors, and assorted others and can't carry FA's, who could actually be of assistance if need be.

Well said dc8ray. I'm not Atlas, but I see similar where I work. Grooms that don't speak a word of English, "Couriers" getting a free ride to wherever.
We're looking into the groom story. It says somewhere that a groom "must be able to communicate with the crew effectively" - ie English.
