Question Stage 3 Noise regulations and the IL 76

Notwithstanding that this is a rumour network, I am hoping that some of the Freight Dogs can offer some facts. Stage 3 of the noise regulations for the EU come into effect very soon and most European operators have altered their fleets accordingly. However, I believe that the IL 76 doesn't meet the regulations and yet it is still the workhorse for airfields with limited facilities and thus it is often the aircraft of preference for emergency humanitarian work. Will it be banned from Europe?. .. .I have heard rumours of the CIS complaining about restriction of trade and even ICAO involvement. I've also heard a view that the decision will be devolved to individual airports as to whether they WANT the aircraft or not. Can any Freight Dogs shed any light on this matter please?. .. .Many thanks,. .. .Blakey

Il76 will go, if not, people will bring back in all the 707's and DC8's which where banned because of the Stage II.There's a big dispute about this now in Brussels. From what I heard, is if on 1st of April, there are still any IL76's flying in and out of Ostend, company's will bring back in all the 707's and 8's....Interesting to see what will happen...

After watching a Sudan Air B707 roar over my head a couple of nights ago, I firmly vote that these airplanes should be allowed back into European skies, all of that smoke and noise was just wonderful. . .. .I wouldnt mind if the term "Stage 3" actually meant anything, but try operating night flights with "Stage 3" aircraft into France or Brussels and see what happens. . .. .Mutt.
