African International Status

Hello all
A rumour in OST is that African International have sold or are selling
DC8-62 "ZS-OSI" to Transair cargo to become 9Q-CJG.
Is this true, I know ZS-OZV has been flying around MSE yesterday.
I know that ZS-POL when to Congo long time ago after AIN lost their SAA contract.
Kind Regards
Vince

Having had lunch and a couple of beers with one of the main players this afternoon I can confirm something afoot and it sounds like good news for the future.

Details should be out in about two weeks

AIA was advertising for FO and captains a few weeks ago. I can t be to bad then.
With the rising fuel prices it must be hard to continue operating old JT3 dc-8s...

The big announcement from AIA announced in two weeks from what I have heard they have been waiting in years rather than weels. They are always advertising for Capts / FO's to keep up with the leavers.

The crews and ground ops team apart from a couple of dead duds are top notch.

Hi

If this is true about the engineers then well done to them. Luis, Brian and the boys have done very well for themselves.

They would need approx GBP1 million to buy AIA based on USD2.00 to the pound.

Cheers

Just another unfounded rumour or not? Who gives a .

Judging by who/where the rumour comes from I would read little in this than an attempt to unsettle engineers & aircrew.

Anyone working for aia I assume would, & should not be surprised by such news, as I believe the directors have been trying to sell the company for years now.

People spreading rumours should spend their time more constructively, like dodging traffic.

Anybody heard anymore about the good big immenent news which was due quite a few weeks ago? Any progress or development - all's quiet this side of the ocean. Considering the engine fire over last few days - what are developments. The Stocks's have been trying to sell the company for years now?

Yup, the only real oldie that's gone is John (like the horse) Dobbin, or as he styled himself when with Gulf Air 'FM (feckin mustard) Dobbin'

Afraid Undiemole is correct. Both aircraft hours are up now.

TAC bought a DC-8-63F from Cygnus.

From what I have heard one aircraft will go for a check somewhere in South Africa..the other who know's.

Big shame to see more classics leaving our skies.

Good luck to the "team"!!

Hearing some nasty news via the old grapevine today, crews are on a months notice?

Any one else with any info?

Fingers crossed and best wishes to all.

Diesel862, As well as soaring fuel costs the would be investors are suffering as a result of the recession :

The hedge fund industry, vilified for undermining the banking sector through shortselling on shares, has itself fallen victim to the chill wind blowing through the City.
I hear thats its only Intavia that is to cease trading, so hopefully AIA may possibly continue ??

Good luck to all the guys/gals, they were a great team and fun to work with.
