flights are to be permitted until 15november while dlh considers the agreement previously signed to switch flights from its TSE hub to KJA to and from the far east. A growing sign that russian is tightening its stance on the royalty issue for overflights and commercial agreements in place.

From a Dutch newspaper.

LUFTHANSA HAS TO RELOCATE ITS FREIGHTHUB WITHIN THREE MONTHS.

BERLIN - The German Airline Lufthansa has to relocate its freighthub in Kazachstan within three months to Russia. If Lufthansa does not relocate its hub than russia threatens to denie Lufthansa clearance to fly through russian airspace. Wednesday Lufthansa received three months extension to relocate its freighthub.

'The extension is a step in the right direction' according to Lufthansa spokesman Michael Gontgens. 'However we require a longterm solution for our flights.'

Several weeks ago Lufthansa Cargo was suddenly banned from flying through Russian airspace. The German company should not have paid its bill for flying through Russian airspace. This resulted in financial damage to Lufthansa cargo. After several days the ban was lifted.

Minister of Transport Wolfgang Tiefensee is looking for a solution together with the russians. The Kremlin requires Lufthansa Cargo to relocate its hub from Astana in Kazachstan to the Siberian Krasnojarsk. However its often difficult to operate into the Russian airport due to the bad visibility.

The Russians keep annoying the Germans. An Airbus from the Luftwaffe (German Airforce), full with German soldiers, was banned from flying to Afghanistan because the paperwork was not in order.

An interesting russian interpretation of market forces...
Are there any other airlines who fill up in the region who might be affected?
I can remember seeing FedEx in Almaty, surely they'd be transiting through russian airspace.
