30 A320's Cargo for whom?!
Who knows more about the 30+ order for freight converted A320's?
DHL or TNT???
I do know that DHL wants to get rid of their B757's and TNT is already interested in A320's for 2 years...

Your suggestive answer implies that either DHL or TNT (or both) have acquired some 30 aircraft in the second-hand market in order to be able to convert them. I ahve not heard about any such major transaction...

Well, a palletised lower deck was always an option of the A320. I imagine that the containers used on the BaE146 would suffice, perhaps even what's used on the DC-8F's (Can't think of their designation though)...just a thought.
Airbus are saying that LD-3's will fit. I guess that's the upper deck & it'd be taking up 2 positions up there...although, I don't quite know what this pic below is showing. Perhaps one of the dedicated A320 cans???

The two models that are being looked at are the A320PF and the A321PF, both will feature a 86"x121" forward main deck cargo door, AFAIK the A320-200 and A321-100/200 will be converted to a freighter, but not the A320-100.
The A320PF has the following characteristics
MTOW 73.5 to 77.0 t
MLW 64.5 to 66 t
MZFW 60.5 to 62.5 t
Structural payload 21 to 23 t
Fuel 23860 l
Engine CFM56-5A or V2500
ULDs
Main deck : 10x 88x125x82
Lower deck : 7 LD-3-45W (60.4x61.5x45")
Range
2250 nm @ 73.5 t MTOW
2600 nm @ 77.0 t MTOW

there has been talks about A320 converter frieghters, yet the convertion will not be ready until 2011 and Airbus gave the task of engineering to a Russian company. The A320 itis an excellent replacement for the aging fleet of B727 and it is a better hauler and ranges that the B737/300/500. In the plan Airbus plan to acquire the older versions of A320 and zero time them the cost at today's dollars is between $4 and 5.5 million
