The last time I saw the two Cygnus Air, they were parked on a disused runway at Madrid amongst some Gulfstreams, that have been there for quite a while.
I looked as if they had been prepped for long term parking.

In Brasil, besides Beta - do not forget Skymaster as operator of DC8Fs...
An acquaintance of mine, flies these, if I recall correctly, their fleet consists of one or two 62Fs, and two or three 63Fs...

I think Cygnus have/are intending to replace their DC-8s with ex Iberia B.757s as soon as they can get the conversions done. I suspect they will be the last in Europe when they go.

The Africa International DC-8-55 ZS-POL was sold to Congolese is registered in the DRC and flying local DRC cargo. 
The DC-8-63F of Expo Air lost their contract with Air Mauritius due to serviceability and reliability problems, and is now standing at Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.
Air Charter Express (ACE) is a new European operation to be based at France's Chateaux Roux Airport. Their first DB-8-63F registered 9G-AXA is fresh from C-Check with new paint and livery will shortly be flying. Second aircraft now in for C-Check in Peru.
Silverback Cargo Freighters of Rwanda has two DC-8-62F's reg no's 9XR-SC and 9XR-SD, of which one flying commercially and the other just gone in for C-Check. Problems with France and Belgium due to petty political tensions not resolved yet.
Al-Dawood DC-8-63 standing at Johannesburg Intenational supposedly for C-Check that went sour seems to be going nowehere.

Before it came to Ostend, the 9G-AXA landed from South-America in Maastricht with a ACE flight number. The European office of the ICAO says that the code 'ACE' belongs to Cargo Plus Aviation of Ghana, created in 2003 when its counterpart of Equatorial Guinea ceased its operations. Actually Cargo Plus has its headquarters in Sharjah (U.A.E.) and has for financial reasons a subsidiary in the Bahamas. Cargo Plus changed name already in earlier times from 'Air Cargo Plus' and since its reputation is not the best in the world, it probably wants now to adopt a new name. What is better than to adopt a name that refers to its code 'ACE' and why not choose a name that already has been used by another air company, a French one, namely 'Air Charter Express' ?

But Dear Good Sir: They are so very closely related - they follow each other and trouble around just like the L1011's and trouble do.
Aviation, an aircraft, its operation and even as in these DC-8's case unfortunately come together to form "the aircraft" and the common denominator in what they have been or are up to is often the human beings behind it/them.
In Africa we have many and often banned aircraft because of the shininnigans (nonsense) they have been involved with. I pity these machines because it is not these graceful creations that screw up and be banned, but some of persons/operators behind them.
In the case of the DC-8's think most will agree that these beautiful old machines attract dubious types like a candle does a moth.
Please have mercy!
