Delta: Cargo is low priority

Delta could increase their int'l air cargo business tremendously if they just viewed all air cargo as more of a priority. Right now they're allowing Lufthansa Cargo to basically control outbound/inbound freight to Europe and the Middle East.

It could also, just possibly, be linked to the fact that LH has a rather large fleet of MD-11 and 747 freighters.

May I ask what your point is? Any airline could, potentially, increase their share of the market by buying a fleet of freighters. The market, however, is not exactly short of freighters at the moment, and a large influx of extra capacity would probably just drive down the rates - supply and demand - leaving both the new entrant and the other players with reduced yields. Now you tell me who that will benefit.

What makes Delta special?

Oh, and your sweeping statement that LH controls the market is quite astonishing. Yes, LH is a major player. They do not control the market in any way, shape or form. Yes, they rule the rooster in FRA and yes, they are the largest freight carrying "passenger" airline. But they're far from alone. SQ, KL, KQ, AF, NW, CX etc all operate a dedicated freighter fleet. Then there's the integrators, and let's not forget the biggest fish in the pond in terms of kilo's moved is still the purple brigade. And I haven't even mentioned Cargolux yet .....
