Freight Dogs Finally a forum for those midnight prowler types who utilise the unglamorous parts of airports that many of us never get to see. Freight Dogs is for pilots and crew who operate mostly without SLF.

So, any takers for the BC-17X? Anybody?

What's the story? Is this aircraft going to "get off the ground" in civvies?

What about your mob Ratty? Nice to move that 70t 4000k's to Ummagumma in Upper Banana West instead of a 744F eh?

The civilian version died when the Air Force got enough money to keep the production line running which was the only reason the civilian version was proposed anyway. It would have made a terrible civilian freighter. Expensive to run and no legs. It's a good thing it died.

Would have been fun to fly, though...too bad that's not all that matters...

Mind you, the 747 "Guppy" looks a goer!

Buster,

From all the press releases I have seen it looks more like Boeing are just trying to cut costs over the long term by finally realising that the Airbus A300-600 ST Beluga is a great idea and maybe Boeing should have a similar aircraft.

Currently they are looking to modify an old 200 series as their transport.

I assume it's for cabin sections, hence the size, but unless the entire nose section swings open, it'll be a bugga to load!
