More 757's for DHL Air UK?
Read on ppjn that DHL Air UK should have another 10 757's on order, has anyone heard about this, delivery time, recruitment?
Is Ginny still the person to talk to or.. ?

2 more 757 to come this year what will make 22 in total, and thats it.
I even did hear that 2 of our existing 757 will be moved over to EAT.
Ginny is still the one ,but i dont think any hiring is hapening at the moment.

Some more info for you.Yesterday,Friday 5th Sept.,The board of DHL decide to purchase 3 B767's for transatlantic operations.Intent is to have first one operating by the end of the year and to initially hire type rated crew with etops experience.Applications are to be processed through the usual channels.

Type rated and etops experienced flight crew were discussed at some length,as was the subject of having experienced crew already employed by DHL Air UK.The final decision was taken to hire external crew.The reason for this was

1)The boards decision to hire type rated,experienced external flight crew to operate the new 767 operation is based on proven financial and operational principles.
2)Type rated crew represent a real and substantial cost saving to the company.
3)Type rated and current crew allow the operation start as early as possible.
No doubt the full minutes of the meeting will become common knowledge in due course,but this is the info available at the moment.

To go back to Jetavia's point, the total order was for 34 B757-SF to be operated by both DHL Air & EAT with an option for 10 more. As far as I know, the option has not been taken up & all those on order will be with their respectice operators by the end of the year.

Could someone summarize the various flight operations that more DHL freight?
I know that ASTAR, formally DHL Airways, flies from the Cincinatti hub in the US and that ABX Air is flying the former Airborne Express freight but what are the other operators outside of the US?

The short answer is that quite a few airlines operate for on or behalf of DHL. There's EAT in Belgium operating 727, 757 and A300s. DHL Air in the UK operate 757s. Swiftair in Spain operates 727, Convair 580, Metro and Brasilia. SNAS in the Middle East operate Convairs and Metros. DHL Aero Expresso in PTY operate 727s and ATRs. There's an outfit in Africa operating Caravans, ATRs and very soon also 727s. DHL and Air Hong Kong are joint venturing with new built A300-600Fs to support the new HGK hub. Then there's the wet-leased, or sub-contracted part, such as Air Atlantic with Electra's and Gemini, Lufty and World with MD11s. And so on and so forth. Around 230 aircraft worldwide, give or take a few.

Are they brand new or conversions?
if they are conversions where will they come from?
Why 767's? the containers are hybrid!
Why will they even consider 767's when LH are already flying the NAT with the MD11's?
DHL Air is gravid with type rated ETOPs crew but I do not believe the aircraft suits the route!
Are you able to answer with any authority?

Don't know about the rest but,
A lot of cargo operators use MD 11 on the NAT ,not only LH.
DHL may have enough volume for their parcels in a 767,
where cargo must be flown in larger acft.
It makes sense to me.

The A330 is the aircraft to have. Would suit the logistics business in all aspects and knock spots off the B767. One draw back...........
They cant afford it or they wont have assets like expensive aircraft on the books.

Sorry to rain on your parade but according to Airbus yesterday, the A330F is not off the drawing board yet. Earliest would be 1 - 2 years.
