CX salaries
Hi guys,
i guess CX pays the salaries in HKD but is there a part in another currency (e.g USD or AUD?), and can everybody choose the amount of this part in "foreign" currency? |
eaglejet-Have seen many of your post lately. I would like to ask If your licence is FAA or UK CAA & JAA. The reason is it is most likely Cathay(passage fleet)will hire only the the guys who held lisence from UK CAA, JAA or any other Icao country. With FAA lisence they will hire the one with 737 time only. From what I heared there are only twenty FAA pilots in Cathay out of 1200 flight crew.

An FAA ATP, and that's totally wrong, many US pilots at Cx and many of them without jet experience before hired.
As long as you've got turbine experience, that's enough...... |
I just finished the physical and the second interview.
The poop: -They are looking to hire 250 or so next year for the A/C's on order. -The classes are full untill Jan 03 with the 48 new hires. (Not replacement workers) -1000 hrs is a little shy, very experienced pilots in my interview group, primarily from Canada. -FAA ATP is OK, as well as Comm. lic, but not the best. -Lasik is OK, if one year passed since the procedure and it is verified stabilized by the opthalmologist. (have the document with you) They are unable to, and are not checking for Lasik, but if you get ratted out, you can be fired. -The company is hoping to settle the 49ers mess, but they are not hurting at all by the ban, as the full classes prove. As the economic situation is getting worse in N. America, they will have less and less to worry. Pilots need to feed their families and they will accept the job in a snap although they sympathize with the fired pilots. (That was the concensus of my group) If they (and I)were given the opportunity to join AOA and help the 49ers, would gladly do so. -Put your application in, study the info on www.Aviationinterviews.com and consider the ramifications if you pass the interviews and accept the position. GOOD LUCK! |
DOC, was your interview for S/O or direct entry F/O.
Are the stds same for GA pilots as some one like you with 10000+hrs. |
FAA licence IS an ICAO licence....
|
OK guys, can i have an answer to my original question? (salaries in foreign currency)
tanx |
There are infact NOT, many American pilots here at CX. Those are the facts. They will accept FAA ratings. Especially right now. Apply as soon as you have 1000 hrs. You may or may not be competitive. Your age, along with your experience will play a large role in their judgement of your hours.
Best of Luck. |
You get an airy fairy union :p
|
You get to work with the best paid whiners in the industry.

Cargo FO in North America.
As far as the standards; I don't know, but I assume the standards are the same, since you will have an opportunity to be a PAX CA with sufficient time, experience and seniority. |
Who said you will be double taxed?
That's not what the OFFICIAL briefing described.

Some of the reasons for small number of US pilots at CX or other foreign carriers:
1. They have (current situation aside) better pay opportunities, retirement and protection in the States. 2. The foreign carrier is aware of #1, and the fact that US pilots are likely to leave and not stay untill retirement, thus less likely to offer them an interview or a job. 3. Americans are more ethnocentric and not likely to voluntarily live in another countries and put up with the "inconveniences" of crowding, mass transportation, different language..etc. 4. The FAA licensing requirements are easier than JAA and as such, somewhat looked down upon. (Is it really important to know, how many rivets hold the A/C together?) BTW at CX you have to take the CAD test anyway, so it does not matter what license you have now, FAA or the "high speed" JAA. Flame away! |
They measure your rectum too, for the bat handle they plan to stuff up it once every two years or so.
|
jumpingdoc- What is CAD, What are the tests?
|
Do you realize how foolish comments like that sound to the vast majority of pilots working in the GA markets worldwide?
Just wondering. Good luck jumpingdoc. |
